How do you turn them on? Batteries are charged.
I couldn't locate information specific to your model, but on most of the Microtalk radios you push and hold the MODE/POWER button (may or may not be labeled MODE) to turn the sets ON and OFF. This is normally the top button to the right of the display.

New walkie talkies wont stay charged and wont
It's really hard to tell what's going on without more information, but it sounds like your two problems are really one; that is, the shutdown is due to low battery power. If you have a voltmeter you can check the charger output and the battery voltage when fully charged. My bet is that the batteries are no good, so they are not taking a full charge and are discharging rapidly. Try new batteries in one of the radios and see if that solves the problem.
Cant charge
first confirm the battery is in properly. then your charger should have an output equal to your battery power, e.g. if the battery is 3.6 v make sure your charger is at least putting out that. make sure the contacts on your charger are making contact on your radio.
Battery problems
Your battery is defective, needs to be replaced.
Batteries need to be charged in a random pattern and need to be worn down randomly, else they develop a memory and won't fully charge.
What channel do I put the radios on to charge it
Turn the radios off when you are charging them. The charger may not have the current flow to effectively charge the radios when they are on. If you need to monitor a channel, try charging them one at a time.

Charging
put batterys in a normal charger. if still nothing,. problem lies with radios.
Microtalks don't seem to charge, even charged many hours
When you say they worked fine for a long time, do you mean a long time as in "hours", or for many months or years? If hours, then remove the batteries and be sure they are in correctly and plug the charger into a different electrical outlet. If the radios have not been used for many months or longer, you probably need to replace the rechargeable battery.
How to talk from one talkie to another
the radios may be on the same channel but are they also set to the same privacy code. if the speakers are working on the radios and if the recieve portion of the radio is good then this would be the cause of your problem. Most FRS radios will have the channel number as the big number on the display and the privacy code as a smaller number on the right hand side of the display. make sure that the privacy code nubers are the same.
