GE WSM2420D Unitized Spacemaker Washer / Dryer Questions & Answers
GE Spacesaver Dryer Buzzer
I finally fixed this and it's not that hard. First be sure to close the washer lid and put down a cloth just in case anything comes loose. Now, I am pretty sure I took apart much more than was necessary, so I'm guessing as to how easy it is to do this, but I will provide extra possible steps needed.
It's possible that the only thing you need to do, facing the front panel, is to feel along the bottom and locate the two skinny (very small) knobs protruding from the left and right sides along the bottom. Grasp those (you may need two pliers, they are hard to grasp otherwise) and pull down. The whole front panel should release and can be gently tilted forward from the top, leaving the bottom in place. If this doesn't work, you might need to remove the tiny set screw that is in the center on the bottom of the panel, or if it seems that the panel is being held at the sides, you might need to remove the screws that hold the silvery plastic side pieces onto the right and left side of the panel. Finally, the control knobs can all be removed by pulling straight forward on them, but I don't think that will be necessary (I did all of these things in my attempts to open this thing up but figured out the simplicity of it when putting it back together).
Once you have the panel tilted forward and the backs of the controls revealed, look for a black rectangular thingy on the right side, between the dryer timer knob and the dryer start button. Remove one of the two connectors on the back of this (I was only able to remove the one closer to the machine, the other was stuck). That's it, that buzzer has been silenced!
GE Spacemaker Dryer - heart attack buzzer is right!
Now now... it is acting on your bundle of His and making sure you are in sinus rythym. This is called the cardioversion feature!
Not sure if this is the mdel you can take apart and alter the degree of activation on. But if it is open the screw up abit mmore so its not so buzzy.
If not you might be able to muffle it somehow.
Help
Jinx, start with the power cord and terminal block where the cord connects. Sometimes if there is a loose connection the terminal will arc and cause a burnt wire or short. I see this a lot on stacked units. Make sure to disconnect power when checking. Check this first and post back, Catriver.
GE WASHER MODEL GFWH1200HOWW RUNNING EXTRAAA LONG ON WASH CYCLES??
Hello Heather
Good to see you again.
Also check the small strainers on the water connectors. They can block up with limescale and debris. While the connectors are off, turn on the water into a bucket or a sink. You should have a VERY powerful jet of water. Anything that will reduce flow will lengthen the fill time and therefore to total wash time due to fill and rinses. When it pumps out, also check you have good flow in the drain hose and items can jam in the ridges and catch lint enough to block them almost completely.
One clever thing to do is whilst the water inlet connectors are off, unlock the drain hose, unhook the part that makes the hook, put the round connector in the hose and wrap a tea towel around it. Get someone to turn the water on full bore whilst you are gripping the two hoses together. Run it for a full minute. Water will be flushed into the machine through the pump in reverse. Put everything back and run a rinse and spin with nothing in it, look at all the black lint that is pumped out! I did that once at work and found an apple stalk that had lodged across the ridges of the drain hose which had 90% blocked the pipe.

Stripped connection at the cold water intake into washing machine
If your inlet valve itself is stripped then you have to replace the valve. The plastic thread is part of the inlet valve. If its only the screen in your inlet valve you can remove the screen and replace it. However if you crossthread anything plastic it HAS to be replaced.
If you give me your model number of the washer usually the wpl 4318046 can be used as an inlet valve which is a cheaper alternative than your local parts distributor would tell you. GE parts on avg are 30% more expensive than anything else. On ANY ge appliance there is usually a way around there replacements with some minor altercations. I wish this site had a way you could contact me directly. I just joined so am not an expert yet but ive done my time in the field. If i could give you any expert advise its DONT BUY GE, OR LG.
Let me know if this helps.
