sorry in advance for the lack of appropriate terminology. my "solution" comes from a mother with no mechanical experience point of view.

i had the same problem with my washing machine overflowing. I opened up my machine, found the clear hose that went from this little square box on the side of the tub up to the switch for the "load size" knob. i pulled the hose off the square box and saw that there was a piece of paper in it. i pulled it out, scraped the scum out and reconnected it. started the machine. - that didn't work.

so, I got the thinnest pipe cleaner i could find pulled the tube from the little box, and stuck the pipe clearner down the pipe of the little square box. pulled out a bit of scummy lint, then I blew in the tubing. I heard a "click", I thought.. okay maybe that's it. reconnected everything, started my machine.. and now it works :)

This probably wasn't the proper thing to do, but it worked and saved me from the cut throat washing machine mechanics in this area.

GE Washer won't drain or spin

My GE washer is less than 2 years old. During a wash it held the entire load of water and does nothing else. I unattached the hose from the back and drained the water. I was able to get it through a cycle but it hesitated during the spin cycle like it was choking. Now it won't drain again or spin.

this is something that you can fix even if your not a technical person . first you have to open the washing machine front panel or back panel , second , follow the DRAIN HOSE to where its connected to a little motor, disconnect the DRAIN HOSE , take the LITTLE MOTOR out and clean it out , it could be clogged.
it happen once and find out the person put the BATH RUG SET
to wash , the rug was so old that pieces of a rubber underneath the rugs clogged the drain , so there was no rinse and no spin.
try it , I hope it helps.

I have a GE WBSR3000GWS Model and it stopped spinning at one point as well. My service guy came out and did the procedure below and reset it with in minutes.

How to Reset your GE Washer :
1. Turn the dial like your going to wash a load but do not pull the knob.

2. Unplug the washer from the wall and wait for 30 seconds.

3. Plug the washer back into the wall.

4. Lift the lid 5 times to at least 6 inches high. Open/Close within 15 secs.

5. Pause… You should here a click. If you do not, then repeat 1 – 5 again.

6. Insert a towel or garment into the washer and then pull knob to start the wash cycle.

7. Check the wash cycle to make sure the washer is agiating and spinning during its cycle.

GE top load washer w/no lint trap leaves excessive lint

Is there a way to work around a machine w/no lint trap? The amount of lint on dark clothes is ridiculous and they are mostly garments that are not put into the dryer. I already sort the clothing by color and use the gentle cycle. I don't know the model name or number but the GE washer is older - but new to me in a place recently purchased.

Most US-sold washers made after the mid 1980s don't have lint filters. The manufacturers weasel-word around it by saying that the lint "goes down the drain", leading people to optimistically assume that there is a self-cleaning filter in there somewhere. There usually isn't and whatever lint doesn't go down the drain is filtered by your cloths (but whatever does might clog your septic system). As a result of this scam, it's much harder to hang-dry or iron-dry clothes that haven't been hand washed. And, if you think spending $2000 on a pair of matched "front-load" style machines will solve this, you might be wrong; many of those washers still have no lint filter.

GE Profile washer won't spin cloths after wash or rinse cycle

When the wash cycle is over the machine drains like its supposed to but will not trip into the spin cycle. I can manually put it into the spin cycle but the drum still won't spin. I have checked and cleaned the pressure hose to the fill pressure switch and applied suction and pressure to the switch and can hear it change positions but it has no impact on the spin. I opened the electronic component part of the washer and got the service instructions and cycled through the diagnostics routine and the results of that follow;
Fd LED's all functional
05 Model code
E4 error code indicates slow pump (the pump seems to function normally)
E5 error code indicates no fill (washer fills normally)
(no other error codes displayed)
H hot water fill functions normally
C cold water fill functions normally
AL agitates slowly, functions normally
AH agitates fast, functions normally
P pump functions normally
SP spin functions normally

I am assuming ether an electronic component failed (which doesn't seem real likely as everything works in diag. mode) or the pressure fill switch isn't indicating the drum is empty (which seems more likely to me). I would appreciate any thoughts on this, like what I may try to confirm or dispel these assumptions.

Its $150 for a repairman to just show up in my area and I'm usually fairly handy with these type of things so if I can avoid paying that I will.
Thanks in advance for any help.

More than likely tub bearing is seizing up causing basket not to spin freely. Belt is burning because basket won’t spin.

GE Washer Model WJRR4170E4WW squeaks while agitating

Hello,

The washer makes a loud squeaking sound when it is operated on the “Cottons” side of the wash select dial. The sound gradually becomes less loud but it is still present as the machine runs through its cycles. The squeaking happens at each time that the machine must agitate (washing or rinsing) but it does not squeak when the motor is spinning and expelling water from the clothes (unless at this point the squeak is so high-pitched I can’t hear it). There is no squeaking sound when the machine is set on the “Easy Care” side of the dial. I am sure one side (Cottons) agitates more vigorously than the other side hence the presence or absence of the noise. The washer runs fine in all other respects (spins so the clothes are almost dry for the dryer, drains well, leveled correctly, fills properly) but I am sure the squeaking sound is wearing the machine faster than it should. I appreciate any assistance or suggestions.

Regards, Rick

There are four suspension rods that the tub hangs on. When the washer is agitating the tub will rock back and forth and the rods will move back and froth as well. To fix this noise, lift up in each rod and put some lubricant in the cup that the rods fit into at the top of the washer.

Note that it is best if you use a lithium-based lubricant rather than silicone based lubricant.

How to remove clothes stuck under agitator

Can get cloth from under agitator. How do you remove top load agitator?

Answer

the agitator should pull straight up, you may have to twist it back and forth as you pull upward. when you put it back on make sure its all the way down and in place, this may be the reason your clothes are getting stuck under it.
