All-Pro SPC-85 Utility Heater

Check the thermocouple, it is a very small diameter copper wire that goes from the gas valve to the burner. Make sure it is being hit by the flame. If it is, remove it and go to a good hardware store with it and get a new one.

I have an All Pro

This sounds like a problem with your thermocouple.

Just remove the end of the thermocouple from where is goes into the gas valve and leave the end that goes into the flame in place.

Clean the end of the thermocouple connect by scraping off just a little metal from the end just about there the nut tightens the thermocouple into the gas valve. After you have exposed some new metal do the same inside the valve where the thermocouple seats into the gas valve.
Use a small pic or similar item to scrape inside the gas valve to expose some new metal there also.

Now reassemble the thermocouple into the gas valve and see if the heater works.

Here is a link with some more instructions.

If this does not solve the problem you may need a new thermocouple and you can find that at www.desaparts.com

The part number is 113884-01

Heater wont stay lit when i let go of primer

try holding down the button for 15 to 20 seconds and then let go ( this will let the system heat up to the proper temp ),, if it still will not stay lit then the thermal coupling is bad and needs to be replaced.

My 85000 is older and

Is the fan coming on when you press the start button? If not, that's the problem. Or it may be inadequate gas pressure. These are just 2 of the most common issues. So, I have included a link to your Owners Manual, that you can download and print for future reference. Please pay close attention to the Trouble Shooting Guide part of the Owners Manual.

Really hope this helps solve your problem. Please let me know.

The heater will try to start but keeps flaming

Try cleaning the photo eye flame sensor. It is the black rubber boot close to the burner. Remove it and you can see the sensor down inside. Clean it with a soft cloth or a cotton swab and some alcohol. Also check the air line for cracks and check for tightness where the air line connects to the fan motor and the fuel nozzle. If the hose is stretched there, try trimming a little off the end so it will fit tighter. Check the fuel line for the same thing where it connects to the fuel filter and fuel nozzle. Let me know what you find and don't forget to rate the answer.

Unit will not stay lit unless the bottom is held

This indicates you have a bad thermocouple. It's the copper probe that goes down to the flame. You may be able to pick up one at a good hardware store such as Ace.

Burner will not stay on

asimfq,

The most likely area for your problem is the thermocouple or relay. All -Pro and Reddy Heat are made by the same company Desa. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4258201-fix_gas_reddy_heaters_will_not_continue which should explain the problem, how to solve it and where to get the parts.

Are Thermocouples for ALL PRO Heaters available

Most of these parts can be purchased thru Grainger if there is one close to you, if they do not have it they can usually locate the parts for you. They are a little pricy but they get the job done for me.
