If the dishwasher will not turn of and the heat will not turn of and they are on the same switch, Your selector switch is probably bad. You can probably order the switch cheaper online by searching the brand and model number. You maybe able to also find it at a local appliance dealer. If you are not electrically inclined, Then you get to get someone who is certified electrically or a certified appliance repair person to perform the repair.
How do I find and check the drain hose on my GE PDW8480 dishwasher?
The drain hose normally goes to the air gap located next to the sink faucet if it doesn't have that make sure the hose is higher in the middle than it is where it drains to the garbage disposal the dirty water is coming from ur sink from when u wash dishes then it goes back to the dishwasher you need to elevate the drain hose
Glasses always have sediment on them, not all dishes get cleaned
Remove the lower spray arm by rotating counter clockwise while lifting it up. It will come right out. Look at the bottom and you will see two holes (jets) that are plugged with food chunks, broken glass, etc... their job in life is to keep the fine filter clean. Also make sure your hot water is actually hot... like 130 degree hot. Then run 2 cups of Tang Orange drink through it on the Pots and Pans cycle, added heat on, to remove mineral deposits. (Tang is VERY high in citric acid and will clean it out safely)
Dishwasher leaks after I cleaned the air pump
If your dishwasher is Leaking check the followingDishwasher Not LeveledThis is a very common reason for a leaking dishwasher especially if this was a new installation. The framing in a dishwasher is made up of mostly thin sheet metal, so if it is not sitting flat and level things can get distorted very easily. Watch the video on leveling your dishwasher Door SealThis is not very common in most dishwashers. To check this look for rips and distortion of the seal. If it is ripped or distorted you will need to replace. Dispenser SealThis is a more common place for a leak to develop. This is easy to check, remove the front panel and carefully inspect around the seal for water dripping or stainage. If any is found replace the dispenser gasket. Water Inlet ValveUsually it is the connection to the water inlet valve that ends up leaking. Check this connection ( there is usually some sort of adaptor between the valve and supply hose) for leaks. Check the connection on the back of the water inlet valve also. Ocassionaly a water inlet valve will leak around the solenoid in this case replace the inlet valve waterDrain / Circulating PumpSome dishwashers have separate drain and circulating pump. Some use one pump to serve both purposes. In either case you will need to check the housings for leaks along with all the connections. Some dishwashers have a seal that leaks down into the pump . This is easy and inexpensive to replace. Door LatchThe door latched can become loose or misalinged. Check both the striker and the latch. To adjust the latch you will need to remove the front panel and adjust switch until properly aligned. Door HingesThey can cause problems, but this usually only happens from opening a heavy load of dishes on the door. Occassionaly a broken spring or cable occurs. You will need to remove the toe kick and maybe the front panel to inspect.Use the VOM, God bless you
