Hi There,
You've done the exact troubleshooting necessary to narrow down your problem to only 1 real possibilty.
Your video card has failed. If the 1537 operates off a "discrete" (separate and detachable) video card, it can be replaced fairly easily. If it's of the sort which is BGA (BAll Grid Array), meaning that it was soldered to the motherboard with high tech robotics (the video card attached on almost microscopic balls of extremely dense high melting point solder), then the only practical solution is to replace the motherboard.
I wish you well,

2 possible causes, faulty adapter or faulty motherboard. try to update the BIOS if applicable. If this does not work, attempt to test the adapter on another laptop to confirm if it is working, or try a confirmed working adapter with your laptop. If same issue with another adapter, or if your adapter works with another laptop, it will be a motherboard problem. If the adapter fails on another laptop or if another adapter works with your laptop, you'll need to get a new adapter. Hope this sheds some light. Feel free to rate the usefulness of the information.
