I have a GE model# GSH25JFXJ that I have had for

1. If you are cutting the system open, like installing a new compressor, repairing a leak, or install a new filter drier, yes, the system would be pumped into a vacuum, but just to add refrigerant, no you can add some without pumping the system into a vacuum.
2. If the freezer side works, the sealed system should be fine. On most refrigerators, all the cooling takes place in the freezer, and the fan in the freezer blows some of that air into the refrigerator section to cool it. It sounds as if you have an air flow issue. I would check the air dampner at the very top back left side of the refrigerator section to see if it is stuck in the closed position, preventing air from entering the fresh foods section. (air exits back out the bottom left back into the freezer compartment)
3. If this unit is indeed under one year old, call GE to request they dispatch a different service tech to assess the situatiion. Try 1-800-386-1215.
4. Oh, almost forgot. The proper factory charge of refrigerant in the system is listed on the model / serial number tag. It will be listed as something like 3.2 or 4.15 Oz (or similar amount) of R-134A. Once extra refrigerant is added or removed, the only way to get an acurate charge is to evacuate the entire system (into a vacuum) and re-charge it with the exact amount of refrigerant.

Water dispenser leaking at the door all the time.

Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

Ice machine flap doesn't close all the way, then stays closed

There is a ice door solenoid for your dispenser, its probably the problem. Costs about 35 dollars and just about anyone can replace it.

Water build up back of freezer inside

Our GE Profile leaked from the freezer door and this is what I was told by a service man to try before he came and it worked. There should be a "well" on the bottom of your freezer floor where the water runs when it defrosts. Yours is probably now covered with a sheet of ice. You can melt the ice with a hairdryer using dry towels to soak up the water as you work or really hot wet rags and ring them out in the sink. After all the ice is removed pour a small amount of warm water into the "well" and stick your finger in there and "plunge" it - like you would a clogged toilet - with your finger. This will purge the ice that blocked the drain. Check on this every couple of months to make sure you don't end up with the same problem in a year or so.

Ice in my ge frigerator smells and tastes like mold,in the fridge

I would suggest changing the plastic feeder tubing to the filter and the ice maker on the unit. Also, the ice maker units unplug and can be removed quite easily, you can also take that out and give it a thorough cleaning with warm soapy water, being a careful not to get water on any electrical parts.

Fresh food side too warm

Refrigerator [email protected] 40 F or lower is the recommended refrigerator temperature to slow bacterial growth and maintain quality. Freezing occurs at 32 F; adjust refrigerator accordingly between 32 F and 40 F to prevent unwanted freezing, such as freezing milk.

Ge fridge GSS25LFGww, fridge part freezing food

Hi, Change the controls back to normal settings. Make sure the freezer is getting 0 to 5 above. If the freezer is getting cold enough, try and turn the cold control to 1 and see if the refrigerator shuts off. It sounds like the cold control in not working properly and will need to be replaced. NOTE: The freezer temp has to be right temp or the fresh food side will not work proper.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

It sounds like you have a plugged drain tube. The easy way to clean it would be to unplug fridge over night with the doors opend to defrost then remove rear bottom panel. After that you should see a tube going into a drip pan clean the end and blown in to it with a air tool or if you wantt o fast clean the end and use your mouth. After line is clear you can pour hot water into freezwer part and see if it drains into **** pan hope i helped :)

A GE has a element behind the back wall with the evap where you thaw out the Ice this is called the defrost heater it is a glass tube with a wire inside the tube there may be two of them or just one usually one of them have went out and you can look at them and tell it will look like a black bunched up glob inside the tube not a spring like it should. and black will be on the inside of the glass. replace it and it will not do that anymore
