Most likely the water line inside the freezer door is frozen( very common problem.. No long term fix out there other than defrosting the line(you did that when you defrosted the whole fridge) the trick is to run the water a lot the first day or so..sensors and motherboard have nothing to do with that..
All of you guys are wrong. What that person is saying is that the physical paddle used when you place your glass in the dispenser bay and press against the paddle....That's what's broken the paddle......
Hi Caicoj, first unplug the unit. In the back of the refrigerator you will find a metal plate with about 8 screws. Remove the screws to access the control board. Each plug on the control board is different in size and you should be able to remove all of them by just pulling on it. Remove the old board and install the new one. Reconnect the wire harness making sure they are the right size harness for the plug and reinstall the metal cover then you are done. Plug the unit back in and enjoy. Good luck.
Is GSS25JFPCC the correct model number? If yes and many other GE refrigerators that have a motherboard. The motherboard for your refrigerator is found on the back and is item location 801 found HERE If you would like to replace the=> WR55X10942 Main Control Board or here=> WR55X10942 Main Control BoardI can provide you a service manual and explain all the things to consider when replacing the board. Things like fan motors, compressor start relay/overload and run capacitor also need to be examined to prevent the new board from going bad. A fan motor can cause this if it shorts. Yours sounds like the compressor circuit on the board down to the compressor has shorted on the morher board. I am here if you would like my assistance, Sea Breeze
not a lot of ways to go about it. Best bet is q-tips... If you want to try and remove the cover and expose the dispenser area it's not that hard. Take a small phillips screwdriver and if you look under the user interface panel you will see three small holes in front. Put the screwdriver in one of the end holes and pull on just the front part of the cntrl panel on that end, should pop right off then four screws and you have full access to the dispenser.
You probable have ice buildup around your evaporator fan. You would need to remove the evaporator cover inside the freezer to expose the fan and see if you have ice around it.
The water valve is located in the "outside rear lower of unit" where the water pipes go into the unit for water source feed, remove the plate, the valves lift up and out or twist and up, remover the 2 wires on the valve and replace the valve, repeat the removal in reverse. PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE WATER SHUT OFF AND POWER PLUG """"REMOVED""" FROM THE POWER POINT. Any further issues, please contact me at [email protected] and I will guide you through the process. Russ
Mine was making a moaning, whistling noise coming from just above the ice maker. It happened when the fan speed changed. I learned on this site that the motherboard was probably defective.
Rather than go thru GE, we found a new one online for 66 bucks. I replaced it in about ten minutes and it's all fixed. Poor materials on the original, but this site was very helpful.
