I have a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse
you might have to uninstall the mouse then restart your computer then reinstall the mouse and its drivers
make sure the battery is good (has full charge)also you might test the usb device for the mouse is inserted correctly into the usb port (if applicable)
click start control panel mouse you should see 4 tabs buttons, pointers, pointer options and hardware under hardware you can troubleshoot also you can select properties under driver you will have options to update driver, rollback driver or uninstall and under hardware you can troubleshoot
in xp
hope this helps

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000
You have to push down the scrol wheel to engage auto scroll
and also check the mouse properties from contol panel.
Make sure that you check each of the mouse options tabs to enable the correct mouse functions paying attention to the WHEEL tab
Ensure there is a tck/selected for vertical scrolling and it is set to at least 3 lines.
For horizontal make sure that is set to at least 3 as well
Leave click lock disabled unless you have specific use for it

Optical mouse no longer works
I doubt the problem is the battery, and you do NOT have to press the Connect button each time you use the mouse - it will connect all by itself if it can. The Connect button is only used to re-establish connection if for some reason it cannot connect automatically.
I have this same mouse and it has
worked beautifully for two years now EXCEPT for one problem: most of the
time, the mouse does not turn on when the receiver is removed from the
receptacle on the bottom of the mouse. There is a tiny little switch
built into that receptacle, along the side wall of the receptacle not
far from the light, so that it gets pressed when the receiver is inside the receptacle. I have to wiggle this little switch (gently!) by
hand a few times until the light comes on. From that point, the mouse
will work fine until the receiver is placed back in the receptacle.

My mouse stopped working.. switched the battery
I have the same mouse as you do and I had the same problem too.
My problem was the battery, chargeable ones.
I had to recharge it over again to make it work.
I don't know if you have chargeable batteries there, but maybe it help you.

Hyper senitive & erratic mouse
reinstall the driver for the mouse and see if that fixes it.... also you can try going to control panel----mouse and the changing the settings... you may have to experiment abit to get it the way you want it.
