it sounds like you need to reboot, then go into the BIOS menu (when the computer boots, it will flash an instruction briefly on the screen telling you which key to press to get into the BIOS, usually an F key) Check the boot disk order, and then set the BIOS to boot the computer from the CD drive first. Then you can reboot with the Windows install CD in and it will start the install process. When you are done, you can go back into the BIOS and change it back.

You remove folders by removing the program from the control or settings. Some DLL files are shared by other programs . "Permission may relate to being logged in as administrator or running windows explorer as administrator right click on explorer and check if option to run as administrator" Becareful deleting DLL files as they may be shared

The product key is provided to you by Microsoft and will be on the inside of your vista ultimate edition retail edition plastic box (the one shown in the picture) (Usually this key is 25 characters in length)

I have vista on a laptop and it is the worst os that windows ever made. So I'm assuming you got this for free and that is why you are installing it. One problem I noticed continually with vista is that it is such a processor hog that it would shut my laptop off every time it was running any program that required a lot of loading files. So maybe this initial installation...especially if this is a laptop, is the processor is going extra slow because of heat. O don't know your physical location...but to rule out heat based freezing of vista, try to do the install after the computer has been sitting completely off for a night. The best thing would be to take it outside or in the garage if it is below 40F or so and do the installation in the coldest weather possible. If the installation still freezes and you are certain it isn't related to an overheated processor, try reformatting the harddrive ( assuming you are doing a clean install) and start the vista install from the boot up off the dvd

While you forgot windows logon password, you can get into safe mode (F8 when booting up) to retrieve windows password when you didn't remember user account password, but if you forgot administrator passwords, there's no way to change it, you have to use programs to recover administrator password.
