the screw has lock ty-et and yes its a pain we run in to this all the time just keep trying or heating it up helps most of the time we cut them out. you'll have to remove the deck. when we reinstall we put a bolt head type back in. good luck

Did you get a manufacturers belt? sometimes belts that look the same don't work. My belts kept breaking because the pulleys were dirty with grit, dirt, and grass. Hope this helps.

Yes, the engine is identical to the ones used on several lawnmowers and the safety bar must be held in against the handle to enable it to start. Releasing it while running will kill the engine.

Go to MTD website to obtain manual or google manual by model number followed by the word mtd or tiller

remove starter get new rope wind spring DONT LET GO UNTIL DONE feed in new rope , tie knot in rope, replace handle ,tie knot in that end. NOW YOU CAN LET ROPE RETURN IN SLOWLY

sounds like its flooding the float needs adjustment or seat needs cleaning or replace

you can do what i did and resoider or re crimp the cable go to the hardware store and buy a generic cable and fabricate your own.i did this for my 2 year old mtb lawn tractor as i was too cheap to spend the 50 buck for a crappy 1/8 thick cable that the manufacter knew was going to fail.I used a spare throttle cable from my vw dune buggy and cut it to fit.
