The scooter has not been used for more than a year. We replaced the batteries and battery charger. The horn, on/off switch and battery gage all work but when you try the forward and reverse levers -

Check the brake micro switch, brake coil and all its wiring. Also check motor brushes are not stuck.

Shoprider manual roma vienna

charger may be faulty. check the charger lead for signs of damage and if damaged fix. if possible check the charger with another wheelchair (maybe a friend has a chair you could try it on) or can you borrow a charger to see if the problem persists with another charger, if it solves the problem you need a new charger, if not then: there could be a loose connection, do you find it has the same problem when the battery pack is fitted and when off board? if it is not the charger there is not much it can be, if you or a friend is handy with a screwdriver you can open the battery box, remove the screws and lift off the lid (just lift a small amount as there are wires attached to it) there is enough space to check that all the wires are securely connected to the charge socket and the batteries. if you have a multi meter check the continuity if they are all good the chances are that the charge socket is damaged and needs replacing, (do an ebay search for: "XLR 3 pin female panel mount socket" they start from about 2.00 pounds) hope that helps mark.

What is the type of charger used for this wheelchair

Most are 24 volt chargers; some are external, as in, carry it with you, and others are internal, where you would plug a 120 volt household current into the charging port.

My invacare pronto m41 is very hard to turn on and off. Do I need to replace the keypad or the joystick?

The back of the keypad has a flexible metallic coating that comes in contact with a non-flexible metallic circuit under it to activate the switch. With thousands of pushes, this metallic coating wears off and must be replaced by replacing the entire keypad. Sometimes, debris can get underneath the keypad which interferes with the contact, and cleaning with alcohol will clear the problem.

Motor whine

You may have bad bearings in the motor. I would suspect the gearbox. Have you had any issues with the gearbox leaking oil. The bearings/bushings on the drive shaft for the wheels are most likely going bad. If this is the case, you will have to replace the whole axle assy.

Scooter will only turn 1 way

Get someone to replace the joy stick. You might be able to get the company to send someone, or a friend might be electrically/mechanically handy. I've found most repairs on my chair can be made by someone competent.

Constant beeping when turned

The freewheel lever isn't re-engaged properly. Try moving the lever to "free" then back to "drive" again. The lever moves a small micro-switch.
