O have a Pronto M

Have you replaced the batteries ever? I was told by my local Invacare vendor that the batteries are only good for 12-18 months. My mom's Pronto M41 was having battery problems and replacing both batteries solved the problem in her chair bought in 2007. Now she is looking to buy a slightly used chair (4 mos old) from the family of a deceased friend and there seem to be issues with the batteries in this almost-new chair.

Just replaced batteries and unit is operating good

All that eans is that when you are charging the batteries you are unable to drive the chair. Its a safety feature to ensure that you won't accidently make the chair move with the charger plugged in. Just plug the charger into the charger port turn off the chair and then plug the charger into the wall charge overnight and in the morning unplug the charger from the wall and then from the joystick. Always have the charger off when plugging ang unplugging from the chair. With the M41 charger get a power strip with an on/off switch plug the charger into the strip and use the on/off switch to turn the charger on and off before you plug it into the chair Hope this helps you

Wrench lite comes on and

The wrench light indicates a problem count the number of flashes ie 4 flashes pause 4 flashes indicate a motor problem See my tips on flash codes. Once you get the flash code then you will have to get the chair repaired because there is no self fix for those errors Hope this helps

Wwe have a pronto m41 mobility chair.the service

First thing you must know is that the error codes are reversed on Pronto chairs with SPJ+ joysticks.
Only one year the M41 was made that the codes were correct. From approximately April 2008 to May 2009 was the only time a left error code ment left motor and a right code ment a right motor. Same for brake codes.
Brakes codes happen when the brake is out of gear, unplugged from the control brain or wire cut. Also from internal coil damage. Unless it's a wire you can reconnect you cannot fix the brake.

I need to replace the

you are not to open and add water to your batteries they are supposed to be sealed. if you put unsealed batteries in your chair then you did not put in the correct batteries. Batteries from wal mart or any type of unsealed batteries will void any warranties on your chair. the fuse should not have blown if the batteries were put in correctly and you had the wrong batteries. You will have to contact Invacare directly to order a fuse or have a local provider order one for you. While your at it dump the batteries and purchase the correct batteries for your chair You need 2 U1 sealed deep cycle batteries. Check with a local interstate battery outlet or contact your provider to get you the proper batteries

Where is the circuit breaker

There is no circuit breaker on the M41. There are fuse links located on the wiring harness on the positive post of each battery. If you are not getting any power to the joystick check the joystick cable to make sure it didn't come unplugged then you can check the battery voltage with a meter set to 200 vdc and plug the leads into the charger port located under the front of the joystick put the leads into the two outter holes of the port and you should read the battery voltage fully charged it should read 25-27 volts if you aren't getting any reading then you will have to remove the seat and shroud to get to the batteries to check the fuses on the positive posts Hope this helps

Seems like no power is

You may have a battery with a dead cell which is keeping your chair from charging right.

If you have a load tester on hand ,load test both battery's they should show the same
if they dont show the same this tells you the one that fell to a lower reading is your dead cell battery make sure when you do change out the battery's you change both.

Good luck hope I was helpful

Check all of your connections to ensure nothing has come loose. Ensure your batteries are not damaged and fully charged and that the fuses are good. If a power chair has been stored for a while the charger may indicate a full charge but the batteries are full of oxidized crud instead of power and need to be replaced.

Someone accidently locked the chair now when you

I'm not 100% sure but I think if you push the ON button and keep your finger on it and at the same time press the horn button it may unlock it. Not all models are the same but its worth a try. Good Luck

Charger is going to a green light just seconds

wnorman sounds like a charger problem but if you have a digital voltmeter you can check the battery voltage by setting the meter to 200 v dc and plugging the two leads of the meter into the two outter plug holes of the charger port located under the front of the joystick. Fully charged you should read 24-27 volts.
If you are reading less than 25 volts then you will have to replace the charger. I would ask around for anyone that has an off-board charger for you to borrow for a few hours charge with that charger and see if it makes a difference. If you still get a quick green light from the borrowed charger or when you checked with the voltmeter you didn't getting a reading then there is a connection problem. Hope this helps

Seat back won't lock

JC If your chair is an Invacare locate The lever on the right side of the lower seat cushion that lets you adjust the seat back it might be stuck letting the seat back not lock. Try setting the back where you want it and pushing down on the handle to see if you can get it to lock. If you can't get it to lock you'll just hafta get another seat or find a used seat that you can take the locking lever off of. Hope this helps

Scooter motor clicks.

This sounds like you have tripped your circuit breaker. It works just like the one on your house, when you ask too much of it it suddenly goes 'pop' and seems to be dead. Do you know where the circuit breaker is on your model?......
OK this one was hard:) I like a challenge. I have located the User manual for your chair, it does have a circuit breaker, the troubleshooting page even mentions it, but NOWHERE in the whole document does it give its location. Can you beleive that? I have tried other models in your brand, and similar products but none of them show where it is. The best I can find is this link to an online tech manual on maintaining your model. if you scroll down to page 66 it gives a rather indistinct photograph but I hope it helps.

If you need a copy of your User Manual Follow this link. Troubleshooting is on Page 27. Hope this helps.
