My TR3624 (12 deep cycle 6V batteries - 1 year old

U indicate that the batteries have been heavily used. Well, they do wear out and heavy usage will accelerate their demise. When batteries start to go, they do not charge as well and continue to charge less and less. Best bet is to check them all after they have been "fully" charged to weed out the offending unit(s).

Solar system, 2 SW5548 inverters

How are the batteries for that inverter? Have you got a dead battery in the loop? If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/craig_3fa289bf857b1a3c

WILL A TRACE 2000 WAT INVERTER RUN A RV 15000 BTU

It can but you are not going to do it off a single deep cycle battery, You will need to have some robust batteries to sustain it. But that will almost need to be the only thing on that inverter. It might be better to spend a little more and get the Air conditioner that can operate on 12 volts or 120 with the flip of a switch. Look at the data panel for the 15,000 BTU AC. It's current rating should be right around 12 Amps at 120VAC. Which is 1440 Watts. Startup is when there could be a problem. Especially when the compressor approaches a near lockup condition. Current draw can be double that of normal operation Even though it is within the surge rating of the inverter- the batteries have to be at their peak at all times.

I have 2 DR 15/24

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

On a new deep cycle battery you should perform an initial charging cycle. The batteries are dry charged simply by adding electrolytes. Every deep cycle battery manufacturer states this in their instructions:

Charge the batteries before placing the batteries in service.

You should do a trickle charge on each of the batteries individually over an 8 - 10 hour period. This will activate all of the surface area of the battery plates. When the battery is fully charged it should have specific gravity reading of 1.265 using a battery hydrometer / tester. You will get that on a brand new battery but that specific gravity reading is only coming from a very small active / working area on the battery plates. Hence you have a very short working duty cycle at the moment.
After your trickle charging session.... wait 1 hour to test the specific gravity of the battery.

I am certain that if you do an extended INITIAL charging period on all 3 of the batteries that your working duty cycle will return to near normal time periods. Let me know if this does not work. There is more that can be checked. For the moment just do the initial charging session on all 3 batteries "WITHOUT using your inverter" as the charging source.

Once thing to note... if the batteries were ever tipped in excess of 45 degrees in shipment they may be lacking the necessary electrolyte level for the batteries to function normally. I.e if they were tipped and then someone just added distilled water / battery water. The batteries will never perform properly.

Lastly.... if the NEW batteries were serviced with electrolyte and water but never initially charged
then you many have a split level battery electrical level. I.e. the electrolyte and water have never initially mixed properly. The too will cause the symptom you describe. Charging the batteries for an extended time causes bubbles in the battery and does and excellent job of properly mixing initial electrolyte levels.

Probably more information than you needed but, anyone using deep cycle batteries for the first time should be aware of the above.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Trace, no power from line one from either gen set or shore power. Have rebooted, and when I invert the coach works normal. Charge system to house and coach batts perfec

If a normal install, the shore power and generator will go through a transfer switch then to the inverter. If when inverting 120 VAC circuits are OK, then the problem must be before the inverter. I would suspect that it is the transfer switch.Disconnect shore power, make sure generator in NOT running then take a look at the transfer switch these are in a boat or RV but either can lead to vibration problems which can lead to loosening wire connections which can lead to heating and burning. It may be something as simple as a wire coming loose. (Which could be dangerous!) Whether or not the contacts in the relays are OK, check and/or tighten all electrical connections. It's a good idea to check and tighten all electrical connections regularly. Some transfer switches can be repaired by replacing just the relays. Other units (like mine this year!) will need to be replaced entirely.

I have a motor home with a Trace inverter/charger.

More than likely you may a a relay that is stuck or not energizing which should switch the charging mode over automatically. Trace back from the generator to the charging circuit for the batteries. I'm not sure where the relay (or solinoid) would be located but you can be assured it is something in the charger sensing/switching circuit.

Good Luck! Gary

I have a Xantrex 2400-12

First off I am not in this for the money. If your not satisfied with the information below simply reject the solution so that you can hear from other experts.

The 888 flashing is telling you that the inverter has lost DC power momentarily. This can be from broken strands in the battery cables or an internal wiring problem in the inverter. Check the battery cables for corrosion. Remove the terminals check for battery post corrosion and visually inspect each bable to terminal connection from the battery connector to the inverter DC Power connections.
Here is something to keep in mind. A DC power cable only needs one tiny strand of wire to indicate voltage on a meter. However, if there is any load on the AC side that tiny strand of wire that is giving you the proper DC reading may in fact drop well below 10.5 V DC and simply cause the unit to automatically shut off even with no load.

WILL A TRACE 2012 INVERTER RUN A 15000 BTU RV AIR

According to specs, they will take a 44 amp AC power surge. Obviously number and type of batteries as well as battery condition , etc, plugged in, not plugged in to outside hydro, or generator all come in to play here, but a 15,000 BTU roof AC will only draw, 15-17Amps AC when compressor kicking in, ( or less on some new models) and should level out at 12 -13 amp draw after. As well, this will depend on proper wiring to and from main panel as well as AC unit, and incoming voltage, AC unit condition ( cleaned and maintained properly) etc.
