Smelly garbage disposal
Patricia,
I would suggest putting some lemon juice in the disposal and let it sit for a short period of time and then run hot water down that drain while the disposal is running. Hope this helps!

What does an alen key look like?
It is a small tool/ wrench that is hexagonal (six-sided) in shape, to be inserted in a screw head of the same style. The most common are just a six-sided steel rod bent in a "L" shape to create a handle.

Cleaning and preserving a garbage disposal
Once a week or so turn the tap on at the sink and turn the disposer on. Then drop a cup of ice in the disposer. The ice will remove any grime and build up and the water will wash it all down the drain.
How do i repair gec disosal unit
Most Disposals are not worth repairing. If the motor won't work, try pushing the rest button on the bottom of the unit. If it won't turn, use an allen wrench to manually turn the impeller and see if something is stuck. You can also use a broom handle to turn the impeller.

Disposer wont turn off
That is the external switch that probably has welded contacts. Turn power off replace turn power on and smile it will work.

Wiring diagram for Hobart FD500
That should be in the terminal box cover. I am guessing but it has nine wires coming out and is rated at 220 - 440 3 phase. If you are not experienced in industrial/comerical power hire an electrician, that is cheaper then a funeral.

Garbage disposal electrical shock.
Are you sure it wasn't a static electric shock, rather than AC? If you live in a dry climate, or in a cold climate without a humidifier, and you may have walked across a carpet, it could have been a spark of static electricity. Especially if it hasn't reoccured.

Seals are gone. Need to get it serviced or likely cheaper to buy a new unit.
