Hello and welcome to Fixya,

I have a ton of service info on Bosch so it`s best I post you an exert from the service pdf`s I have on my PC which will explain the meaning of "CL" and then go from there. This is not a common indication of a control problem, but it could be a problem with the plastic casing which houses the control, we`ll deal with that later.

I`ve underlined the section pertaining to the "CL", this is for the SHU68** dishwashers only.

TO OPERATE:

First depress the On/Off Button until it locks in place.

Once the On/Off Button is depressed the LED above the previously used cycle will illuminate.

To change the cycle, simply press the desired Cycle Button twice. The LED above that cycle will then illuminate.

The Cycle Countdown will display an approximate run time for the cycle chosen.

This run time will depend on incoming water temperature and the turbidity of the pre-wash water.

Note: It is normal for the Countdown Display to remain at a time increment for more than one minute, or skip a time increment depending on the calculations of the Control Unit. Also, with continued use the Control Unit will learn the wash and temperature patterns for the most commonly used programs and will then reduce the overall start and running times.

At the end of the cycle the display will show a CL, indicating that the cycle is complete.

**TO CANCEL A CYCLE:
Press the Scrub Wash and Delicate / Econo Buttons both in at the same time. The unit will then drain and the figure CL will appear in the display.**

DELAY START:
The Delay Start feature allows the unit to be delayed for up to nine hours. To program, start the unit as described above, but after selecting a cycle push the Delay Start button. The display will show a 1h, or one-hour delay. Continue to depress the Delay Start Button until the desired delay time is reached (up to nine hours, 9h).
The unit will begin automatically once the delay time has elapsed. To reset the delay, press the Delay Start Button until it reaches 0h.

TOP RACK ONLY:
The Top Rack Only feature can be used in conjunction with any cycle. To active, press the Top Rack Only Button after selecting a
cycle, the Top Rack Only LED will illuminate and all water will be diverted to the upper wash arm for the complete cycle.

REFILL RINSE AGENT LED:
The Refill Rinse Agent LED is activated via a Reed Switch on the Detergent Dispenser, Section 4, Fig. 8-3. The LED will
illuminate when the Rinse Agent Dispenser is empty.
Service note: The Refill Rinse Agent LED will also illuminate when the dishwasher door is opened and then
closed even if the Dispenser is full, but will only remain lit for a few seconds.

“F” CODE:
An “F” in the display window indicates a filling fault.

Please note: If the door is opened during the cycle, the On/Off Button will be reset to off and must be depressed again to re-active the cycle. The cycle will resume from where it left off.

Now that you are equipped with this info, what I`d suggest is trying the **cancel option. ( ** see above )

Once you`ve tried the cancel option, select a Regular Wash and post back what happens and I`ll try to assist you from there.

Based on your description I'd say the issue actually is with the control...unfortunately. This is commonly associated with a heating fault on Bosch built dishwashers ( various models including Bosch, Thermador, Siemens, Gaggenau, and Neff ).

Since the issue is likely within the electronic timer/control, specifically the heater relay solder joint. ( a faulty flow switch, ntc or heater can also cause this, but not very probable ). These are the steps you'll need to follow to resolve it or at least investigate.

If you feel capable of checking this on your own, there`s a way to visually inspect the control yourself...it really isn't very complicated.

It will require you to remove the control from the unit and then remove the control from it`s plastic housing and look for a burnt solder contact on the printed circuit board.



The culprit will 99% of the times be one of the pins from the heater relay,



**Flip this over and inspect the solder joints, it will be obvious when you see it.**

hence the unit sit`s and takes longer & longer to finish because it can`t heat to advance or unless the 2 buttons for "cancel" are pressed...this can also manifest as a long cycle time as I mentioned and eventually display's "1" on units with a display and usually very poor cleaning, no heating ( don't be fooled by the homes inlet hot water temperature ) as a result.

You can also run the unit through a regular or econo cycle ...any cycle with the exception of rinse & hold, and with the door panel removed place an ammeter on the gray/black wire it should draw 11 amps during the wash cycle...after it fills and the flow switch indicates it has adequate water to engage the heater.

i.e. ( this may differ from your specific model, but the same rules apply )


**My Opinion - if you or someone you know is proficient at soldering, a lot of times it can be remedied by simply repairing the solder...but it has to be done well...or it will not last. Bosch recommend`s replacing the control and I don`t pretend to speak on their behalf nor do I profess to know better. This is just my experience (it work`s) and my opinion (why buy new if one can repair ?)

**Please disconnect the power or turn off the breaker before attempting any service to the dishwasher.**

If you do not feel comfortable attempting this service, call a local pro, preferably one familiar with Bosch/Thermador/Gaggenau/Siemens, to service your machine.

If there's a garbage disposal unit, that may be the problem .Check the hose that runs from the dishwasher to the side of the disposal. If it's clogged with food stuff, the dishwasher might back up and not wash properly.

This is the FD number eg9001add 20 to first two numbers 110, ignore the first number this is 2010, the last two numbers is the month 01=jan8804 would be 88+20 108...2008 aprilIf you can't work it out please comment with FD

Make sure that the drain spigot is not blocked under the sink. Water has to pump out OK. Then the most likely fault is the release valve at the bottom of the heat exchanger. It jams because the plunger corrodes. To see to this you will need a competent Bosch technician like me.........after that the electronic might be crook , but I doubt it.

There is a filter at the bottom of the dishwasher where the dishwasher drains. This filter is probably plugged. You may also have a kink in the drainline. The dishwasher usually drains into either a drainpipe under the sink or into the disposal. If your disposal is full this will also cause the dishwasher to not drain properly.

Two possible areas of suspicion are the drain pump / drain filter that can be faulty or clogged resulting in lower pumping action in the said time . A good cleaning of the pump/ pump filters and drain filters can help to improve the drain pumping.
Also the drain cycle is controlled by the controller board and unless there is an error in the program the board must be working well. So remove the board and reconnect check for loose connections or faulty sensor.

Hi Dave, welcome to Fixya. That "CL" in the display is an indicator simply notifiying the cycle is complete and the dishes are "CLEAN". Hope that answers your question. It is possible the latch, spring or the actuator needs replacement or adjustment.
The parts are shown in this diagram. Items 8,9,10 etc.

You will have to open the door inside cover to access these.
