OK, try to grab the chuck tightener and loosen by pressing lightly on the drill throttle button in whichever direction it takes to undo the stuck in drill bit.

Round bits are not compatible with the Ryobi impact drivers. You need the hex shank "quick connect" bits and accessories. There is an adapter available. it is basically a regular style of keyless drill chuck with the quick connect hex shank that should fit right in to your Impact.

Remove the REVERSE-THREAD screw at the bottom of the chuck. Set the clutch collar to the highest setting, and set the gear to the slowest setting on the transmission. Remove the power source! Get the biggest allen wrench you can fit in the end of the chuck(the shortest leg) and tighten the chuck down around it, allowing the jaws to rest and tighten on the flats of the wrench. Lay the drill on its side(chuck toward you, handle to the left, and allen wrench to the left, horizontal to the deck). Then with a hammer(soft hammer if you care about the allen wrench) quickly and deliberately hit the allen wrench in an attempt to cause the allen wrench to spin counter clockwise. if the trigger won't pop out it will need to be changed. tool parts direct or ereplacement parts are good to find parts. be very careful if or when you open the case. when the guts come out they go back one way or the case won't close.

Just keep it on high, vari-speed on an impact driver is not very useful unless working with delicate materials.

I have a hilti that uses a square bit that is about 4mm and it came with it. can a Robertson screwdriver fit in it?

Either you are between HI and LOW or you are out of business. Check the speed selector normally on the top of the drill.

as you look at the side of the switch, the black lead is top left, the white lead underneath it, and the two reds from the right side.

the white lead and thinner of the red leads should go to the led. if you are looking at the back of the motor as it will sit in the housing, the black lead should go to the left side and the red lead should go to the right.

if you get them backwards it shouldnt matter for the motor although it may make the switch function opposite (i.e. impactor spins rev in fwd and vice versa).

the two wires from the battery tabs plug into the bottom of the switch. again, reversing them will at worst cause the switch to operate opposite function.

VERY GENTLY. . . . use a flat tip screw driver to try to push the collar forward so that it will release the bit. You may need to gently hold the handle of the impacter in a table vice or something like that to steady the tool, then push forward on the collar with a screwdriver and use a pair of pliers to pull outward on the bit at the same time.

Or instead of a screwdriver try vicegrips that are adjusted loose enough to just lock but not squeeze when closed. Pliers that grip too tightly may bend the collar and keep it from being able to slide forward to release bits.
