Cuisinart overheated while trying to make almond butter
If someone can make mayonaise and know how they can make plaster the way to start the proces , then they know nothing about to make beem breezes or almond butter the engine of this kind of tools are not made for the heavy work a a little but good suggestion is like a Hobart dough mixer thats not a food processor like that DLC-5 because is made for shakes and normal fruits and vegetables or some kind of meat no problem But not for heavy emulsification operations if start to make butter from cream then you must beware of the slowly power increase comming force you can hear the difference in sound , the same problem if you have a Kitchen cutter do not cut out full fat young cheese on it at most only for a short time , because the armature and field magnet of the motor become much too hot when cream changed into butter then stop the machine quickly and when there are heavy nuts almonds are coming too its much too much force for it the commercial group Home appliances a little suggestion is cut only the nuts in the dlc-5 and doing make butter and more heavyer jobs with this kind of tools

Is it possible to repair the "on" button; it no longer stays down without being held.
Most likely a replacement switch is required. MFG may provide the proper switch with instructions on how to replace. If not
there are several online appliance parts stores. Most likely have the part and instructions and may help if you run into problems.
Depending on the age of the machine, I would think the MFG customer service would be interested in how their devices are holding up and will provide the switch, or suggest a source.
Is the Cuisinart DLC 7 Super Pro Manual available to download?

You'll have to look around at the options and pick one that looks like the one you have.
If you have an older one, the handle for the bowl generally goes in front, and check the base to see if the button that gets pushed down when the top is in locked position is in the front or the back... and try to match that. The DLC-10s has it in the front (7 cup machine), but many of the larger machines have it in the back. The feed tube matches up with the button when you put the lid on. If you put the lid on with the feed tube 180 degrees off, you can break the lid/bowl getting them apart again.
Getting this right is the most important thing... otherwise they just kind of work. The link for the 7-cup
Pro Classic Food Processor (DLC-10s) has really good technique information with color photos. It's worth grabbing regardless of the machine you have.

Other manuals have other recipes... so you might want to download more than one manual.
The blade seems to be frozen - we can't get
Hi,
Although it may gouge the metal blade material, you need to try working
the blade loose with a large pair of slip joint(water pump) pliers,
after spraying WD-40 on the shaft and letting it soak for a couple of
hours.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
It won't start. The cup locks - the top, not so
I have the same problem, It is better after I scraped the top surface of the bowl with a supersharp knife held vertical to the top of the bowl lid, and removed the resulting burr from both sides of the bowl. I presume that it was too much friction between the mating parts of the bowl and the lids. It is better now and hopefully will be easier with use. The problem might have been insufficient cleaning of the mating parts after use and consequent gumming up.

Locked in blade
My old Cuisinart has this problem because the motor shaft and the corresponding socket on the cutter are worn. The shaft has jammed in the cutter. To un-jam it, stick a bar of wood behind one blade of the cutter (I use the wood handle of my dough whisk) and give it a light, sharp tap with a hammer. Check after every tap to see if it is loose, if not do it again. You want to tap against the back side of the cutter, not the cutting edge side. The socket on your cutter may be cracked, allowing it to open up and slip (and jam) under the stress of cutting. You'll probably need a new one. If the motor shaft is also worn, that can also be replaced. The new part is about $10. I got a few more months of life from my cutter by reinforcing the inner socket with a thin plastic tube from the barrel of a syringe.
I cannot remove the top from the base
I don't know what brand food processor this is. However, are you saying that the bowl will not rotate to release? It's normally just a matter of twisting the bowl (probably anti clockwise when viewed from the top) in order to release it.
My cuisinart 5.5 quart stand
There is a motor overload protection device internal of the motor that will prevent operation of the motor in the event the unit is overloaded. This device will reset itself after a cooldown period that should not last longer than 30 minutes. If after 30 minutes, you brand new unit still fails to run, you should take it back to the store you purchased it from. If that is not possible or if the store will not accept returns, Cuisinart has a Customer Service Center who can help you. Before calling for service, ensure you have a working electrical outlet. Please let me know if there is more I can do for you. :-)

My Cuisinart food processor has
There will be two switches that have to be 'closed' to operate the motor.
One switch is the on/off and the other is an internal switch operated by putting the bowl in position and locking it.
It sounds as if one or both of these switches is not operating correctly. This could be a result of leaving the machine in storage, perhaps in a damp environment?
Without dismantling the machine to inspect the switches the only option is to try operating both switches numerous times to clean the contacts.
DO THIS WITH THE MACHINE UNPLUGGED. Operate the on/of switch numerous times - at least 50 to 100. Then place the bowl in position and move in and out of the locked position a similar number of times, to operate the hidden internal switch.
Now plug the machine back in and try it.
Does not run

My food processor is ancient and works like a new
You should probably not use the thing anymore. The type of plastic they used back then gets very brittle over time, and there's a chance that the bowl could shatter while you're using the processor. There's a chance that if that happens the safety switch will stay engaged and the unprotected blades will keep spinning, right where your hand is. It happened to me.
I cannot get the lid on correctly
The correct assembly varies by model #. If you truly have a DLC-5, assemble it exactly like the picture/icon shows you here. I find it helpful the place the tab underneath the feed tube slightly left of center of the work bowl handle and the slide lid counter-clockwise (on the DLC-5 only). If you have a different model # other than the DLC-5, call Cuisinart at 1-800-726-0190 and they will walk you through the assembly - just have your model # ready (located on bottom of base of processor).
