Troubleshooting: ERR2 - Motor Movement

Since the motor moves when you press speed up, focus on the optic sensor, its wire connections, and the

optic sensor wheel. If all seems well at the sensor, inspect the motor.

Optic Sensor

??? Optic sensor wheel - Make sure that the optic sensor wheel rotates securely, without wobbling, in the

middle of the optic sensor. Realign and tighten if necessary. If optic sensor wheel teeth are missing or

bent, replace the optic sensor wheel.

??? Optic sensor wires - Make sure that wires are inserted securely to the optic sensor and to the drive board.

Check wire continuity.

??? Optic sensor - Turn on unit power. Turn the motor flywheel with your hand. The optic sensor

indicator (LED10, drive board) should light. . If it does not light, and all parts above are

good, replace the optic sensor.

Motor

??? Motor arcing - Does the motor show signs of wear - irregular arcing, carbon dust?

??? Motor brushes - Do brushes show signs of irregular wear - cracks, dents, lines? Replace the

motor brushes.

??? M+ M- Wires - Make sure wires are connected properly.

Other

??? Display main IC - To ensure proper signal processing, press down on the main IC on the display

board, marked U5. .

??? Ribbon cable - Ensure that the ribbon cable is attached at the drive and display boards. Check cable
continuity.

I have the same treadmill with the same problem statement. Here is how I fixed it:....Open the lower shroud that covers the motor. You must remove 4 or 5 screws. Taped to the inside of the shroud should be a document with a calibration procedure on one side and electrical specifications on the other. It will tell you how to run the calibrations. You need to hold the stop button and the + speed button as you insert the safety key. This will put you into calibration mode. My treadmill started working again after I ran the incline calibration routine. Hope this helps.

Wondering if you found a solution to this problem yet? I seem to have the same situation with my 730cs treadmill. It is inclined and will not move up or down...thanks.

test the speed sensor, with DVOM, for open or faulty. clean it, adjust it see the diagram , and tigh very well the connector. RUN the software calibration for troubleshooting, and fix it. God bless you

The Steps for Newer Style Console Calibration

1. Locate the calibration area on the rear or underside of the console (a hole, near the console's center, that goes through to the electronics board. (This hole should not have a screw in it.)

2. Insert a pencil (eraser end), into the hole and feel around for the cal button (will click when pressed).

3. Press the button 2 times (with the pencil eraser). The first click should show CL11 in the console, the second click should show CL21.

4. If the process was done correctly, and CL21 appears in the console, you are in "calibration mode." The next few steps consists of pressing buttons on the console and observing settings. This will not require any other tools.

5. Press ENTER. CL22 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.

6. Press ENTER. CL23 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.

7. Press ENTER. CL24 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.

8. Press ENTER. CL25 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.

9. Press ENTER. CL26 should display in the TIME window. You should then see the letter "E."

10. Press ENTER. You should see "SS" or "55" in the console.

11. Push the STOP/START button. For safety, at this point, you should step off, or be off, the treadmill.

12. Push the ENTER button. The walking belt should start to move, accelerate to maximum speed, then stop on its own.

13. When the belt stops, the incline should self test by raising to its highest incline position, then lowering back down to its lowest position.

14. Once the incline test is complete, push the POWER button 2 times. The unit should shut off and the console should go completely blank. If this happens, the treadmill is done calibrating and is ready for use.

15. If the letter "F" appears in the SPEED or INCLINE window when the power button is pressed 2 times, the treadmill is indicating a failure somewhere either in the SPEED or INCLINE (depending on the window the "F" appeared in). Troubleshooting the failure would be the next step.

proform 730 performance treadmill was working just fine..son left for Air Force in May last yr.tried to use it today and electricals wont turn on..

lube the rollers bearings. This happen because the lack of maintenance schedule. You must do it aproxo 150 miles of use.If the problem persist, after you lube it. Time to replace the old board deck by new ones.God bless you

Dear Sir:1( You have to use some VOM for to measure voltage, continuity.1a( Test the outlet wall with some bulb 2a( Reset the c. breaker from your house.2( Test the power cord , for loose cable, or broken cable.3( Test the power switch, if is open or short.4( Reset the c. breaker in your machine.5( If the machine is Not working maybe you have the power supplies, or fuse or main motor board faulty. Check rear roller, bearings might be worn.I had to replace mine.
