The problem is the plastic valve on the bottom of the tank. If you remove the 4 screws connecting the black and white parts together it will expose the valve and you will find that at least one of the tabs that secure the valve are cracked off. You can replace the tank for a new one at HB website for 10 bucks or try to repair the valve yourself.
Tank leaks
Call Hamilton Beach customer support at 1-800-851-8900. You need a whole new tank. For $5.00 shipping, they will send you a new one. They did me. The gasket that prevents this fell out of my model 47665 brew station. The tiny part that held it in broke and I called them to ask how to fix it. It can't be fixed but for five bucks, they sent me a whole new tank PROBLEM SOLVED!!!! I love hamilton beach. 1-800-851-8900 customer service. Good Luck to ya Katherine

I recently had this similar problem. If you still have you machine try the following.
Your described problem may be one of two problems. Let's start with
the easier solution first. In the DCC 1200 there is a filter "stick or
column" in the left rear. Pull it out and remove the clogged carbon
filter(s) that are in there. Shine a light into the receptacle and
remove the debris in the bottom. It is likely that this is causing the
problem with you machine needing to be started on multiple times. See
if this solution works. If it does, you might run 8 cups of water and
4 cups of vinegar through to help decalcify the units plumbing. Do this
once or twice and then rinse with at least one pot run-through of
clean water. If this works then you are good to go.
Next, if this does not solve your problem we can do the following:
unplug the unit and lay it on its back. You will need a #10 torx
driver (hardware store if you don't have one) to remove the bottom
cover plate. There are 4 torx screws holding it on. When removed, you
will find 2 orange hoses. Carefully attempt to remove the left hose
without splitting. I used a eyeglas screwdriver to loosen it up. If
it splits, just cut off the split and stretch it to reconnect when time
comes. As you look into the hose you will find a little black valve
inside as well a some gunk. Clean it all out with a fine wire as best
you can. Rinse well. Attempt to reconnect the hose back onto the
pipe. Slip the pipe clamp back into place. Replace the cover and
screws and you should be good to go again. This is not as daunting as
it may seem. You can do it. :o) Good luck! If this answer helps,

I have had my coffee
I have a different brand but mine has a thermos inside of the coffee pot itself. The seal at the top kept leaking. Solution was to put some food-safe grease on the seal AND most importantly was putting some on the plastic parts of the screw on the bottom that puts pressure on the bottom of the thermos. The threads gaul and one cannot tighten the screw to put enough pressure on the bottom of the thermos to get a good seal at the top.
Not sure if yours is this type, but if it is this might be a solution to try.

It began with the stream of coffee slowing down,
I also had this problem, and reached the point where it was easier to pour the coffee out of the brew tank rather than going through the torturous hell of waiting for it to drip out of the spigot each morning. What I discovered was that the domed screen inside of the brew tank was plugged with residue. The screen can be removed and cleaned. You will see four plastic tabs holding the screen in place over the spigot. Gently and carefully pry the plastic edge of the screen nearest the wall of the tank with a small jewelers screwdriver or a sharp knife(steak knife worked). The screen will pop out and must be scraped (tip of a knife) and cleaned on the inside as well as the outside. The sceen goes back in the same way it came out by sliding the plastic edge back under the plastic tabs and push down the edge nearest the tank wall. It will snap into place. This was an easy 100% fix on my Hamilton Beach Brew Station.

Hi, well yes i would agree with the instruction manual, what has happend is, that the scale that was left in the machine when you stored it has now dried hard as scale would, and possibly the movment of being re-used has disslodged this scale, bear in mind that the water supply only runs through a verry small hole in the machine, so the smallest of parts can get glogged with scale, and being dry scale it will be unlikly that the scale remover with actually remove it as 90% of scale removers only work with "wet" soft scale, my suggestion to you would be to try and check the inside and maybe tap it a few times to see if the scale could be loosend and free itself from the internal workings of the machine try finding some scale remover that will work with dry scale i think there is an acid type one but not sure if it could be used in the machine itself, if this does not cure it, then its a strip and clean which is the last resort...hope this is of some use
The plate gets hot, but the heating element
It doesn't brew meaning no water gets pumped through the system at all, or it's just cold when the water comes through?
Please explain further, also is this a Hamilton Beach BrewStation 47224 as indicated?
