Cannot record sound

Normally every Lap is coming wit internal mic; so

1- Simply check your mic is mute or not

2 - Check your mic volume

3 - Use sound recorder that comings with windows (just record & play)

4 - Use an external MIC (known as working) with sound recorder

5 - Check in control panel->sound and audio device --> default recording device and Voice recoding device as your system’s built-in audio device (some times it’s changing when we installing b-tooth deice)

6 - Check device manager --> under sound audio controller for any issues

7 – Uninstall & install completely your Audio Device driver with default settings.

** If you didn’t solve your prob; my advice is take your lap to a good technician with component level Repair skills.

Thank you & Best Regards

Hard drive

When you turn on the computer, go into the bios. This is done by pressing either the F1 or DEL key. It's usually one of them. It varies by manufacturer. Once in the bios make sure your hard drive is listed. If it's not listed it either came loose or is defective. If it is listed, see if there's an option to test the hard drive. What it sounds like is that the hard drive became corrupted. Or at least the section with the bootmgr. Here's an article on ways to fix it http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/bootmgr-is-missing.htm. hope it helps.

Toshiba has offered to replace my Toshiba

Yes, Refurbished units turn out to be better then new ones. They are tested extensively by Toshiba.

The only thing is that they only offer 90 days warranty, in most cases, with the refurbished unit. Before you accept it, talk with the Toshiba tech and question him on the warranty.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Phoenix Bios password lost --

Hi,

Are you able to use the computer? if you put in a bootable cd, would that CD start right now? We can read the phoenix bios password with a special program if you can start up from a CD. If you can not even start up the computer then no its not going to work.

The thing is with these machines that the Bottom does not come off, its the last part that comes off.

Its the top that comes off, you must remove the display, keyboard etc and then all the screws from the bottom and then you can get the top side of the bottom of the laptop to come off, if the battery is on the other side of the mainboard you will have to unscrew even the mainboard to get to it.

But unfortunately we are way past passwords that are stored on cmos, they don't get cleared even if you remove the battery, they are stored on a memory that does not require power or voltage, you might have to find few contacts from the mainboard or bios chip to short -- in order to remove the password.

but go ahead and try the battery removal and get back to me when you have tried it.

My Toshiba A215-S4697 froze and

it could have failed, but its more likely you have sequential procedures for the power button, like holding it down for more than 5 seconds etc--you might have just put your machine into "standby mode"--check manufacturers site for power key process--good luck!

This black screen and blue sign that says enter

It means that your laptop has a BIOS password associated with it powering on and will not go any further until the correct password is given. It will then go on to the boot up screen. IN most cases these passwords can be reset by "shorting" the teo pins on the cmos battery socket and then powering the laptop up. you then place the normal cmos battery plug back in place and reboot the laptop, there should be no more password but the BIOS will have to be reset as far as the correct time and date.
