if there is a fan in the freezer; in that is not working then yes OR the thermostat has gone. But the unit only has one compressor and if the fridge is working it is normally a good sign.

If you where really concerned you could call a domestic refrig tech they could fix it.

Check that the fan is operating. If the bottom of the fridge cold & the top warm then thats probably the issue.

Check to see if the fan blade by the compressor has a lint build up on the blade. This could also cause poor performance. Make sure the controls are set to median settings if both controls are set to max this can shut off the air to the fresh food section. If there is a damper to the fresh food section it could be not opening.

It sounds like you may have toasted one of the starting componets. Either the start relay or the start capacitor has probably failed, causing the compressor to try to start, and then kick off on overload. Hope this helps

Unfortunately, no. If your freezer is not cooling then your refrigerator side will also get warm. The freezer is the source of cooling and it uses a fan to force the cold air into the refrigerator side. I would suggest calling a repairman to look at it for you to find out if it is fixable. It could just be something simple and does not always mean that you have to replace the unit, but that may be a possibility as well. Sorry!

The origional problem was probably not the icemaker but the electronic controller that sends power to the icemaker.

Does the compressor run? Does the small tube get warm? is the inside fan working? does it have an outside condensor fan? Is power getting through the thermostat due to gnats between the contacts? Does the inside light work? need more info.

Try comet cleaner, it is amazing on rust.

I would suggest a q-tip as it is very easy to break the dispenser cover when you try and take it off. To take it off though you remove the drip pan from the dispenser and pull down and out on the bottom of the cover assembly. Good luck! I know Sears offers "Maintenance" checks and the tech can take it apart for you so you can clean it when the check the unit. I think they charge $159.00 but you would want to call them to check.

The coils are most certainly there probably located under your unit. Clean them thoroughly. Look under and to the very top of that space.

The filtershould be inside the refurigator side of the unit. But a dirty filter would only slow down yor water flow to unit. Do you get dirty water from the water dispenser?
