We have a 2005 Kenmore Trio #76502500 which has the freezer on the bottom of the unit. This morning I noticed the temp in the fresh food section was 70 degrees! Freezer is still at 0 degrees. Sears can't send anyone out to the house for 3 days, so we are stuck! I am pretty handy, just need to determine what component is causing the problem (unless its the compressor). I checked and cleaned the coils (they were dusty and had alot of labrador hair!) There is a slight chance the fridge door MAY HAVE been left ajar during the night, but I can't be certain. The compressor *is* humming and the condessor fan motor *is* blowing. I am thinking a problem with the EVAPORATOR FAN Motor, but not sure how to check it. Any help would be appreciated.
We bought a Kenmore Elite Trio 596.76533500 from Sears in 2006. A few months passed and the Elite broke down. The tech person came out and found that the AC Evaporative Fan was inoperable. It was replaced (part #67003917). A few months later the same thing happened. But before they came out, I spoke to the tech person on the phone who seemed very familiar with the fan. He said that they've had numerous problems with that fan model and would bring out an older-type one that had fewer sensors and that was less prone to failure. The "motor evap" part #2214986 (Whirlpool compatible) was put in and everything has been working since... Hope this helps...

I purchased the Kemore Elite Trio and it was delivered on Friday. Two days later (Sunday) I purchased food and ice cream and loaded my items into my new refrig. That was at 1pm. At 9pm the ice cream was soft as if I had left on the counter to defrost enough to serve. I put a thermometer in the freezer and it registerd at 19 degrees, the frig section is reading 50 degrees. On the control panel, the freezer is set for -2 degrees and the frig for 37 degrees. Please help. I have looked thru my owners manual, and it doesn't seem to solve my problem. It also talks about air ducts but gives no indication where these ducts are located. Thanks.
I had the same problem, freezer full of groceries defrosting or crisper drawer freezing produce. Sears Appliance Repair sent servicemen out twice and both times I was assured the problem was fixed. After freezing produce the third time I insisted they come and get the faulty appliance. The replacement has worked perfectly since day 1. INSIST ON A REPLACEMENT

My Kenmore bottom freezer door is stuck and doesn't open. The right side opens slightly but the left is stuck and I can't pull out the drawer.
Please help,
Thanks :)
After several hours working and moving the door, I was able to slide open the door. Found out that the ice maker was leaking and the water was in the bottom an it frozen and that was stopping the door to open.

PLEASE contact the US Consumer Product Safety Commission if you have experienced the bulb housing melting/potential fire problem with your Kenmore Trio refrigerator. Please file a report even if you experienced the problem months or years ago, and even if your problem was fixed under warranty or if you paid to have it fixed.
You can file a report at their website at:
https://www.cpsc.gov/cgibin/incident.aspx
or you can call them toll-free at 1-800-638-2772
or by send an e-mail to [email protected]
I have already called to file a complaint, but more people need to do so if Kenmore is going to do the responsible thing and fix these dangerous units.
Sears/Kenmore is clearly aware of this safety problem, but they will not repair it for free as they should. Kenmore wants $500 to fix this problem.
If enough people complain to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, the manufacturer of this product will be forced to recall/fix the product.
Please file a complaint before someone loses their home, or someone loses their life because of this defective product.
I experienced the same bulb housing melting/potential fire problem with my Kenmore Elite Trio refrigerator ( Model #79577549600) that I purchased in April of 2006. The first time it happened was in July 2008. I smelled burning plastic when I opened the fridge and noticed the bulb housing was extremely hot. The only way I was able to unscrew the bulbs was to unplug the fridge for a while until the bulbs cooled down. Unbeknownst to me, by unplugging the fridge, I reset some CPU board (or something) and the problem corrected itself. However, the lighbulb sockets were blackened and the plastic housing started to melt, so that was damaged. Because the problem corrected itself, I second guessed myself, thinking that perhaps I left the door open and the Alarm was off (even though it was on, but I dumbfounded). Then this past Sunday, 9-21-08, it happened again. This time, even worse. The plastic housing is completely destroyed because of the melting, the lightbulb shattered and the sockets are burnt. Thank goodness I decided to check about similar complaints before calling Sears. I can't believe all the incidents of this extremely dangerous hazard. Of course, the Sears 1-800 number offered no assistance since I didn't purchase an extended warranty. They recommended calling Kenmore. They were even worse. Finally, after reporting it to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, I decided to call the salesman directly who I purchased it from. He stated he never heard of that problem. However, he told me to call One Source at 1-800-479-5899 to see if they could help me with my "product failure". He warned me that they might not be quick to help, but to be persistent. I was all ready for a fight when Jim answered the One Source phone. When I told him my problem, he immediately stated he knew about the problem and he'd get a tech out as soon as possible to replace the necessary parts. He stated that this problem was "rampant", but that they were correcting it at no charge to the customers. I now have a tech coming on 10/2 (the earliest opening) and a case number. I would recommend still reporting this problem to CPSC, but then try One Source.

I have this kenmore refrigerator about 1 year and i just got this error code ER FF. I unplugger the fridge and replugged it, the code goes away for a while or until i use the ice dispencer sears is of no help, can you help me with this?
ER FF error is malfunctioning evaporater fan

I get error code ER FF. Freezer frosty but working. Fridge is warm. Please help.
I fixed it. ER FF is "Error Freezer Fan." Once the evaporator fan stops turning for more than 115 seconds, this error message will be displayed. This fridge is poorly designed and is not designed with air gaps or enough air gaps to allow air behind the back panel of the freezer where the fans and condenser coils are located thus causing ice to build up around the fan and it's ability to spin. The evaporator fan helps cirulate the cold air generated by the condenser coils.
The fix is (1) defrost your refrigerator which means you'll loose all your food if you don't have another unit to keep the food in until it's done defrosting or (2) to dismantle the entire freezer by removing all the trays and railing so that you can pull the back panel far enough to get the front end of a hair dryer over the top lip of the panel to melt the ice. My unit had ice build at the top right and left corners behind the panel. I opted for the latter and didn't have to throw any food away.
This is going to be an annual chore if I want to keep this refrigerator. We should all ban together and call for a recall.

I have the Kenmore Elite with the freezer at the bottom and all of a sudden the freezer door won't pull open more than about 7 inches. If I force it I can pull it out further but something is wrong, I can't figure it out. help.
Sorry to see your post so late. I believe your drawer slide guides or the rollers that help balance the drawer are broken and in need of repair. I will give you a link and hope maybe I can be helpful. Thank You,Sea Breeze
