Maytag noisy fridge fan. it's still cooling, but

The bearings in the fan are prob going bad and the fan needs to be replaced, or there may be ice built up around the fan and its slowing the fan down. More than likely a fan that needs replaced. are you able to replace it yourself you think? lmk if u think you can, and provide the full model number. should be like 106.####### or 795.####### or something.

Light snow forming in freezer

Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking same part needs replaced. The water valve at the bottom rear of fridge
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Noise from condenser fan.

Go to www.searspartsdirect.com enter your model number and select model number search.

Here you can see a diagram of the unit. The fan motor cost 95 dollars.

It depends on the type of noise it is making.

These motors when failing tend to hum when trying to start which is a sign of a dry bearing.

Rattling sounds or ting ting ting sounds are either a lose fan blade (check the cheap retaining clip on the front of the shaft .. it may have wiggled forward causing the blade to wobble) or a lose mounting screw.

Also I can't tell from the diagram how close the fan is to the drip tray(tray evaporator) These fans not only aid in removing heat from the condenser.. they help evaporate the water in the drip tray.

If you remove the motor.. have it tested before replacing it. At a hundred bucks it's worth a trip to a good electric motor shop. They generally will test it for free.

If you are able to determine the voltage and hook it up out of the cabinet you may save yourself a trip.

Chances are it's a lose mounting screw or that front blade retaining clip.

Best of luck!

First discovered icy build up

This problem is mostly due to defrost system not functioning as required. The ice is getting frosted and this is clogging the ventilations but this frost is not getting defrosted. The procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the refrigerator section and the refrigerator section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located. Now this problem which you mentioned. In this problem the freezer is getting cold but its not defrosting.so the frost build up gets more and more. But the fridge section is not getting cold. And the defrost is not functioning so the water leaks when suddenly the defrost starts for few minutes. ---------------- Before replacing any parts or doing any troubleshooting its advisable to do a manual defrost reset procedure.:-----

The manual defrost reset procedure is as follows: ----

First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section. It will take near to 4 hours to get run in its proper cooling cycle. Then check, if the problem returns again. If the same problem occurs then it's defrost problem. The defrost board and the defrost thermostat/heater is not functioning properly and it has to be checked and replaced. You can get the required parts from online sites like:--- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site.---------This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

My fridge randomly gurgles. no ryhme or reason.

This sound is caused by the drain tube. It has a U shape in it at the bottom. when water comes in it pushes the sittin water out, therefore making a bubbling sound. No problems:)
