Where can i find a hobart k45 replacement cord
You can purchase a replacement power cord from Amazon.com. It is part number 9701025 and includes the grounding style plug which the original did not have. It can also be purchased from your local Sears parts store but it will be much more expensive
Bowl is stuck in stand - can't get it out. It
I know they have to turn COUNTER CLOCKWISE to come off the base. Sounds like "magilla the gorilla" put it on the base. Just keep at it. You might try putting some ICE in the bowl to "shrink" the bowl.
Kitchenaid stand mixer attachment stuck
This has happened to me - however, the attachment pushed up and down on the spring with no trouble, and also turned.
The problem, it turned out, was the metal pin that sticks out - was sticking out TOO FAR. I put some WD-40 on the outside of the pin, and I used a small screwdriver and a hammer and gave it a few whacks so the pin moved back a bit. Once I did that, I could push up the attachment and unscrew it as normal.
When it's off, look at the pin and make sure it sticks out at least flush on one side if not protruding a little.
Mixer doesn't work on all speeds
First the K45SS does not have a hall effect sensor. the pro series the epicurean seines and the pro series 5 use them, The K45ss system uses a phase control board a speed control plate and a governor for speed control. the governor rarely goes out the phase control board is a likely culprit but the system would work only in high gear if it was bad. I agree with the guest above in that it sounds like the retaining nuts on the adjusting screws of the speed control board have worked themselves loose and the adjustment screws themselves have vibrated out of proper position.
How to take the motor out of the k45ss? This is an older cream colored one.
rather than doing a motor tear down to take out the brush holders, try this. first turn the mixer on it's side. (Use a folded towel to avoid breaking the knob from either the lock or speed control) then tap the machine to see if it will dis lodge.if not a very small drill bit drilled into the stuck brush will usually work. drill a little way in and stop the drill, now pull out and the brush should come out with the drill bit. You may ahve to do it once or twice to get the brush out but it works for me the couple times I had stuck brushes. Dont push the drill hard let the bit do the work. Let us know if this helps.
When making bread dough the mixer dough hook jammed. now the mixer makes a terrible racket when used and will not mix heavy loads, ie dough.
In the mixer there is a worm drive gear, it is a fail safe so that you don't burn up your motor in just this insatance. the gear is nylon and when the machine is torqued too much the gear is designed to give out or strip. It is making a terrilble racket because all those chewed up teeth are now being milled and ground up while you are trying to use your mixer. STOP!!! the part costs about $8.00 USD and takes about two hours to fix. You should put a new gasget in but a lot of people dont want to spend the extra $6.00 buck because you have to buy new grease for this fix also, about $25.00 more. You must clean out all the old gear grease to make sure all the chewed up gear teeth atre out of the machine, then repair with new worm gear part and then re-pack with grease and add the new gasket and close up the machine all fixed. about 3 hours time $50.00 and a roll or two of paper towels. (The grease is real messy)
Can a K4-b model be fitted with a K45 bowl?
No, it can not. I have the same k4b mixer and ive been researching the very same question as the k4b bowl is hard to find. The problem is that the k4b uses a small threaded mount stub centered at the bottom of the bowl and the newer design uses a much larger recessed well which is threaded to accept the threads on the bottom of the K45 bowl. Im thinking I might cut the base of the k4b and fit the bowl mount hardware pt no. w10191926 and use the paddle, whisk and dough hook designed for the K45 bowls shape.
KitchenAid 300 Watts - doesn't turn on
the brushes are not square, but have one corner cut off. use a flashlight to see which direction the brushes must be put back. clean the ends of them well with a cotton cloth before reinstallation.
try spinning the rotor-head by hand, then try turning it on (sometime junk is stuck between the brushes and the commutator (motor).
Black Residue on meat using Kitchenaid meat grinder attachment
This is a common issue with the Kitchenaid food grinder. The black residue is a product of the meat itself.
With Kitchenaid Food Grinder Attachments, it is recommended that the meat be partially frozen before grinding. This is to ensure a quality grind and to make sure the meat holds all its juices while grinding.
If any juices from the meat are leaked into the food grinder, the friction will cause a chemical reaction and turn the juice from the meat into a black substance.
