Kitchenaid KHMS155lss-2 Does not heat up, I now

there are 4 things that you can check if you are able to do some electrical tests the diode the capacitor the hv filter capacitor and the magnetron .This is extremely dangerous to work with this high of an amount of electricty and if you are not familiar with these tests i do suggest you call a techncian click here to find how to discharge the capacitor http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/safety.html#dischg

first thing to check would be to see if the microwave is fitted with a fuse this is one of the most common problems for the ones that do have fuses some models do not come with the fuse so if you dont see one dont worry about it .open the casing of the micro wave and look at the rear right for the hv diode it is located next to the power supply and is identified like in the following link http://www.donberg.ie/pics/s/scl_11z-2.jpg. check the diode for any physical damage like a crack , bulge , burst or burned smell this would be a common issue if this were the problem as well to test set a multimeter to resistance at 10k ohms a normal diode should read 50-200k ohms. Next component to check is the HV Filter Capacitor. This component is a big circular steel tube on the board/mounted near the HV diode MAKE SURE YOU DISCHARGE THE CAPACITOR FIRST. Set your multimeter to the highest available setting when connecting to your test the test should read infinite. The reading should go to almost zero and then go back to infinite.also inspect the capacitor for any bulges leaks or cracks or a strong burnt smell these capacitors are made to fail .If neither the diode the capacitor nor the fuse(if you have the fuse) is faulty then you would have by process of elimination end up at the magnetron you can find the magnetron at www.marcone.com under contact us there is a 1800 number and you can find the diode and the capacitors at any electronics supply if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to help others in the future in similar situations Thanks Rick

How do I replace bulb

The cover has to come off the microwave to access the bulb. There are several screws around the back and sides. Remove these and the cover should lift off, revealing the bulb. For your own safety, make sure that the microwave has been unplugged from the outlet for several hours before attempting this repair.

It turns on but does not heat

1 slim hope could be to simply unplug it for 5 minutes then plug it back in.If it still does not heat,It is probably the magnetron has gone bad.The magnetron is what produces the heat. There is the possibility of a blown fuse on the circuit board which is usually behind the control panel. If you attemp to replace the fuse and it blows again, your best bet would be to replace your microwave because it would likely cost a minimum of $100 to repair it.Unplug it before taking anything apart also.If you have any questions or need more help, just comment here and I will get an autolink to your post and reply ASAP.I really encourage responses so I can follow up properly as I know where you stand and asking someone else restarts all the explaining because we cannot see other 'Expert's' responses.Good luck,Greg

Error code F2

The error code "F2" that appears on your KitchenAid microwave refers to a keyboard failure/short on the front button panel or loose keypad connector

Attempt the following to clear error:
Check keypad connector for firm connection.
Press "Cancel" after the error code is noted, if error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad ( also called touch pad or membrane switch ).

Best of Luck with the microwave.

There was a huge pop now it won't microwave

It sounds like the magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.

YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT

This is a job for a professional but if you are safety clued up, here's instruction.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 or moving coil meter on high resistance range for short circuit, (DVM's won't show the fault!), the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.

Load test.

A simple safety test.
Place 1/2 litre of water in a glass container. Measure the temperature of the water.
Place in microwave and heat on full power for 1minute.
Measure the temperature after it has stood for 1minute.
If the temperature difference is more than 9 degrees Celcuis the magnetron is working and producing about 700Watts of heat.
If your microwave is labelled with 900 or 1000Watts. That is about right.
If the temperature is less then the magnetron is not working properly and may need replacing.

This a only a rough guide and any doubts you should consult an authorised service agent.

Rattling, crackling type noise just started and is

A couple of months ago my microwave started making crackling, rattling and grinding sounds everytime i used it and i thought it was going to break down. It turned out one of my children must have spillled or overflowed something with a clear liquid because the micro did not look dirty but there was a crunchy substance under the wheels of the turntable. Once i cleaned this up totally the noises all went away.

Door got slammed and now

There are two or three switches operated by the door latches in a microwave oven. When the door is slammed, they can be damaged or knocked out of adjustment. If the control board thinks the door is open, it won't allow the oven to operate. It's best to let a professional check the oven and adjust or replace the affected parts. Microwaves are hazardous devices, with lethal voltages exposed when the cover is off. Also, repairs involving door repairs can cause microwave leakage if they aren't done properly. But once the switches are operating properly your oven should be fine.

What does f2 mean?

F2 on a Kitchenaid / Whirlpool / Maytag microwave means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

On some models, the keypad is available separately.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

On other models, the keypad
is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

It all depends on the model number.

Kitchenaid microwave model KHMS155L, starts

"F2" means you have a shorting membrane keypad. The "Pan Heat" key is shorting.

On these models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number* from the tag on the oven here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move the circuit board into your frame.
