Steamfast SF-680 Digital Steam Press Iron Questions & Answers
Steamfast 680 Steam Press won't heat
FYI: Steampress 680. I have owned this Steam Press for almost ten years. I had one side would not heat up. I took the machine apart and discovered it was a corroded and rusted connector. I took the wiring (cleaned it up) and soldered to a new connector. Then put it back together. To remove the top portion of the steam press, first remove the six small screws around the teflon side of the press. Then remove the gray plastic screws on the arm hinge. Next remove to the two small screws next to the the silver knobs of what "locks" the unit in the carry position. Then with a screwdriver, pop the black plastic cover off. You will need to be careful and "push in" and lift around the silver lock nubs and then the top cover is removed. With a 10mm rachet, remove the two lock nuts and the washers. Be careful to leave the springs in place. This will allow the heating element to drop down and then you can see if a connector is corroded. Remove the aluminum shield by removing the nuts on top (There are four). Hopefully you have fixed everything and when you put it back together, place the aluminum shield back down with the nuts. Then start with the the small six screws on the Teflon surface. These clips will need to make sure that the hook is toward you. This will allow the hook to capture the small ridge on the silver cover. Leave the six screws someone loose until you can maneuver them enough to "pop" the silver cover down on the Teflon service. Then once completed, align the two screws on the top (between the locking mechanism) and then resemble. I would check to make sure the repair worked before you put everything back. Also, support the top lid with something and rest it on the board. It will alleviate the pressure and the possibility of pulling the wires loose. This should save you from buying a new one. I have had to do this twice in ten years but now works good as new!
My Laura star iron is continuously steaming and won't stop My Laura star iron is continuously steaming and won't stop
The steam valve may be partially blocked with scale so it doesn't close properly. You can try disconnecting the iron from the base unit and flushing it several times with the valve open and then closed. If it is possible to disassemble the valve, you can clean the contamination directly. You may also find that the seal or o-ring is worn out.
My mother would use only distilled water in her iron, so she never had that problem. I see from the product manual* that yours is "designed for use with tap water" if the filter is used. There's probably a limit to how much lime in the water it will tolerate, but the manual says nothing about that.
If the Laurastar Lift Xtra is less than a year old and you were diligent about replacing the filter when you got the replacement alert light, you may be able to get warranty service.

My D2030 iron does not heat up the power light and the screen light come on but does not heat up
1...You need to check the iron settings as they have an adjustable knob that controls temperature as well as governs which kind of materials you want to iron. Different clothing materials need different temperature and other settings. Make sure you set the knob carefully. If you are unable to set the knob properly, you can check the user manual and make sure the temperature or heat amount is set at the right point.
2...Another thing that you need to check in order to inspect why the iron press is not heating up is the water reservoir. In some cases, if the water reservoir is empty then the iron press may not be heating up as much as it should.
For this, switch the iron off and make sure it is cool. Switch it on again and top up the water in the reservoir. Now try ironing again to see whether the heat is proper or not.

Do I need to empty the steam tube at the end of ironing
Heating elements are vulnerable, they have a filament. Heat being generated should freely disperse. Another reason for having the water tank connected, is the possible buildup of scale. Like with coffee makers, the temperature would not reach a high enough level after some time and the iron then requires descaling.

Iron drips water while ironing. Sometimes it rusty
Use filtered water in the iron if your tap water is exceptionally hard or includes a lot of minerals. This can lessen the likelihood of corrosion and mineral development.

My eurosteam duet does not heat but the steam pump works and spits out water
If your Eurosteam Duet is not heating up and there is no steam being produced despite the water pump functioning properly, it suggests there may be an issue with the heating element or the temperature control system. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
- Check the power source: Ensure that the iron is plugged into a functioning power outlet and that the power cord is securely connected to the iron. You can try plugging the iron into a different outlet to rule out any issues with the power source.
- Inspect the heating element: The heating element is responsible for generating the heat required for steam production. Over time, it can become damaged or worn out. If you are comfortable with electronics, you can use a multimeter to test the continuity of the heating element. If the heating element is faulty, it may need to be replaced by a qualified technician.
- Clean the iron: Sometimes, mineral deposits or limescale buildup can affect the heating performance of the iron. Try cleaning the iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. This usually involves using a descaling solution or vinegar to remove any mineral deposits from the internal components. Follow the instructions carefully to avoid damaging the iron.
- Check the temperature control system: The temperature control system regulates the heat output of the iron. If it is malfunctioning, it can prevent the iron from reaching the desired temperature. Unfortunately, diagnosing and repairing the temperature control system usually requires professional expertise. Consider contacting the manufacturer's customer support or a professional appliance repair service for assistance.

The steam is coming out but no pressure when I press the button for the steam to jet out
If you're experiencing an issue where steam is coming out but there's no pressure when you press the button for the steam to jet out, there could be a few possible causes:
- Water level: Check the water level in the steam generator or steam-producing device. If the water level is too low, it can result in insufficient steam pressure. Make sure there is enough water in the device according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Clogged steam vents: Over time, mineral deposits or debris can accumulate in the steam vents, obstructing the flow of steam. This can prevent the steam from building up pressure. Clean the steam vents thoroughly by following the manufacturer's instructions to ensure proper steam flow.
- Faulty heating element: The heating element is responsible for generating steam. If it is malfunctioning or damaged, it may not produce enough heat to generate adequate pressure. In this case, you may need to have the heating element inspected or replaced by a professional.
- Malfunctioning steam generator: If you're using a steam generator, it's possible that there is an issue with the device itself. Check for any error codes or warning indicators and consult the manufacturer's troubleshooting guide. If the problem persists, contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician for assistance.
- Incorrect settings: Ensure that you have selected the appropriate steam settings
