Sound is not working
Hi,
You just need to download the appropriate audio driver for your motherboard. Go to the Device Manager and install all missing drivers for "Unknown Devices". Either connect to the internet or use the driver disc which came with your laptop.
For those who doesn't know how to access Device Manager, please follow the steps below.
For Windows XP:
Start -> Run -> Type devmgmt.msc (in the box) -> Right click Unknown device -> Properties -> Driver tab -> Update driver
For Windows Vista and Windows 7
Start -> Type devmgmt.msc (in the start search box) -> Right click Unknown device -> Properties -> Driver tab -> Update driver
Hope this helps.
My asus 1000hp netbook has a locked keyboard, and
Keys 7, 8, 9, 0, U, I, O, P, J, K, L, and M are permanently stuck as if Fn is pressed so it is in the number-pad mode. So I can't type the above keys at all. If I want to type 0 I would have to type M. Obviously I am using a different computer now, just in case anyone is wondering. So does anyone have any solution to this? Please help!

Go to the manufacturers website:

Re-download the driver, and see if this fixes the problem.

I have an eee pc
It sounds like you've got the Number Turned On.
Their should be a button with NUM LOCK on it and somewhere on the keyboard and an LED with NUM LOCK next to it which will be on.
My 1005HAB keyboar9d has9 started
The keyboard is broken and the 9 key got stuck, try lifting it gently with a pencil's point, if it get stuck again after pressing it, then you may need to replace the keyboard wich is cheap, look for it on ebay.
To change the keyboard look for the fasteners above the top keyboard row they look like tiny metallic wires press them with a clockwork screwdriver and the keyboard should release, then free the ribbon cable losening the plastic fastener.
Put your new keyboard ribbon cable and tight the fastener, sleep the keyboard in place... presto

you can upgrade up to 2GB (DDR2)
Your computer has 1 memory slot you remove the memory and install a new one.
you can use either

AsusEee pc:everytime i turn on
Hi this is usually a corrupted driver usually a Video driver, but not always, it can sometimes be the harbinger of doom, and it may indicate that the HDD is going/gone? faulty.
Now what you may need to do is to perform a boot from a recovery CD/DVD or Boot from a Windows DVD, then either perform a system restore, or indeed a factory restore.
usually though, whenever there is a minor problem it will not continue to reboot as it is doing now.
In this case I think that you will have to attempt recovery from the USB port, please look at the link below, this will show you exactly what and how to do it all. You will need access to another PC to make the tools required to do the job.

No power at all so
Hi,
Welcome to FixYa!
Im very sorry to hear that, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.
1. Removed the battery.
2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.
3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.
4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.
Hope this will help...Thank you for using Fixya...
