and replaced the brake light bulbs if necessary then, if your dash lights are also out you should change the headlight switch, if you have dash lights the check the brake light switch (under the dash)

check your dash light fuse. It is called an instrument cluster light fuse. your ford parts department will tell you the location of your fuse box and what the symbol for the dash light fuse looks like
