Question about RVs

We have a 2018 Ford E450 motor home. we are considering purchasing a steering stabilizer and/or anti-sway bars.

Best i can tell, our issues are rather normal and expected with a 32 ft motorhome on a Ford Chassis. (swaying, loose steering, issues with large vehicles passing, ...)

if you alter the steering and suspension in any way as far as changing factory settings you need to get an alingment it sounds like you have to much negative caster

are you refering to the 5/16" bolt with 4 rubber bushings? 2 on each end? If so, cut them. Everything you need will come in kit. Bolts, bushings and sleeves.

I installed Bilsteins on my 2004 E450 based Class C and they helped reduce sway noticeably. However, the most significant improvement came after replacing the OEM sway bars with Hellwigs. The coach now rides essentially flat.

Stabilizer bars are fairly easy just make sure you have a pry bar to hold the tension while taking the bolt alose this will aid in removal and installation

How to fix front stabilize on 2013 Dutchman aerolite trailer

*Whether the stabilizers are electric or manual, take a can of lubricant spray (WD-40) or similar, and saturate the screw rod and let it disk into the cracks and crevices for 10-15 minutes.
*Lower the front jack stand (raises the front of the trailer) as if you were getting ready to connect the trailer to your vehicle to remove any tension from the stabilizers.
*Attempt to raise and lower the stabilizers.
**If you get some movement, continue to move in both directions a little at a time to help get the lubricant into the screw (all-thread), maybe spray a little more if you do get some movement.
**If you do not get movement, try heating the area where the screw thread for into the the great drive assembly with a heat gun or butane torch. Do not attempt to use an oxy/acetylene torch unless you are experience. Make sure to move the heat source around, do not concentrate the heat on one spot, you will warp the metals and then buy a whole new stabilizer system.

*If your stabilizers are electric and you cannot move them, check the fuse panel for blown fuses and replace as necessary. If none are blown, try checking the connection at the motor of the stabilizers for power using a multimeter while having someone push the extend or retract. If you are not plugged into shore power, check the voltage on the battery to make sure there is enough juice to move the stabilizers. Also, your trailer should have manual handles to extend/retract in case of a power loss. Look for a hole with a rubber grommet roughly the size of a quarter or half dollar. The rodv end will have a hex bolt head that you can attach the handle to or, worst case scenario, get out the ratchet set (1/2" or larger for better leverage) and crawl underneath to work it manually.

Hopefully one of these methods will get you the desired results without scraping your knuckles.

Choosing the best tow vehicle will be determined a lot by consumer taste. You will need to know the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of the trailer. This is the weight of the trailer fully loaded. Next you will need to determine where you will be taking your trailer. If you plan on going into the mountains you will have to calculate tow rate reduction of the vehicle. For every 1000\' of elevation you loose approximately 2-5% of tow capacity (some vehicles it is more). There are new Ford F150 1/2 ton that have a tow capacity of 10,000#. Next, loading the trailer... You want the weight evenly distributed across the vehicle from side to side and front to back. If you load all of the weight at the rear it will pull up on the tongue and cause drive wheel handling issues and trailer walking. If you load too much toward the front it will push the tongue down and cause steer wheel handling issues. I highly recommend the purchase of an EQ2 or EQ4 hitch system which is weight distribution and anti sway.

Which frame jack? The front landing gear or the stabilizer jacks at the rear of the coach? The principle in leveling is to utilize the tires and axles as the primary point of level. Make sure that you have your wheels/tires level from side to side first. Then using the landing gear at the front level from front to rear. The stabilizer jacks at the rear are not designed to support the total weight of the unit but rather to remove the bounce and sway. If the unit is raised too high with the stabilizer jacks the unit could fall to one side or the other damaging the jacks, the trailer or worse injuring someone.

I need a manual for a 1963 shasta

unless you have ahome built unit
most use standard axles with various hubs fitted
That menas same bearings but different hubs with different stud patterens to fit different rim diameters and wheels to fit towing vehicle as well
There would be no problem going up in rim sizes if that is the case because you could purchase the hubs to suit the rims
The only thing to watch is tyre to body clearance as the bigger the rim the less rebound clearance to the body so tyre profile will be critical or used spacers under the springs to lift the body
As to sway and controllability , you should be using stabilizer bars anyway regardless of what rims you are using
