I left gas in it and want to take for a ride, I have spark but no gas going through the carb. is there an easier fix than taking the carb off and cleaning?

Check the timing on it

in the carb did any of the screws have any micro bored holes for gas to go through like in many small engine iv found . clogged with goop. does it have a gas bowl an a screw on bottom take it out if does an look it over close.

Things to check Is it getting gas. One way to check is take the spark plug out and put a table spoon of gasoline in the spark plug hole and put plug back in and try to start, If it starts then you know the gas is not getting from the carb. I find quite often if I pull the container off the bottom of the carb and clean the container as well as the little holes in the screw you take out that is all you need to get going again.
Another thing is the spark plug ok? sometimes all you need is to replace or clean the spark plug.

Take the spark plug out and see what it looks like. If it's dark, sooty or wet smelling like gas, then you have a spark problem. Might need new plugs, a new coil or charging the battery up.
If the spark plug is dry and is a light tannish, brownish color than your problem is not getting gas. If that's the case, take off the fuel supply line to make sure you have gas to the carb. If that is fine, then you might need to take the carb a part to make sure you don't have plugged jets or passageways in the carb itself. If you want to find out quick, you can squirt a little gas into the carb intake and see if the the engine pops off. That will tell you as well.

Take a spray bottle and spray gas into the carb and see if it starts.If it starts you more than likely have a carb problem. first thing check and make sure gas is flowing to carb. Take the line off at the carb and see if gas flows through the line. If you have gas to the carb you will have to take carb off and clean it out and check to see if float is stuck closed.you might want to put a rebuild kit in it while it,s apart.

If you have spark and compression, the only thing left is fuel.

Check that fuel is being deluvered to the carb (remove fuel line to carb and make provision to catch ejected fuel. Crank engine. Fuel should be pumped from the tank and out the open line at a good rate.

If this checks out (or there is no pump fitted, but there is fuel issuing from the pipe), check the electrical connector on the bottom of the carb. There should be battery voltage on this conection for the engine to run - if not - that's the problem.

If that checks out, the cut-off solenoid (fed by the connection you just checked) is suspect.

I'm not sure of the type mower, push or riding. I'll assume push...
Sounds like you have done some good things to help solve this problem.
If you haven't gotten the problem resolved yet, I have a few ideas for you (I'll go from the easy first). Motors 101, if you have gas and spark, SOMETHING should happen:
1. Pull the plug out and attach it to the plug wire and verify spark. Be sure to hold the kill lever as you pull the rope or engage the starter.
If no spark, check your gap on the plug.
2. Most models have a bowl under the carb. Ease it off and see if you have condenstion (water) in the bowl. Water (even a little bead of it) will sit in the bowl and deny gas passage through the carb. Dry it out and also insure you have no water condensation in your fuel tank.
3. Take the carb off and make sure the fuel jet passage is clear of obstruction. Sometimes gas can "laquer" and even create a clog. A small pin could punch it our and get you going again.
4. Pulling the flywheel off sometimes reveals a key in shear. the key is timed to with your engine to spark when it's supposed to. The key is soft and this can happen if you strike a hard object (like a stump or rock). If the key is partially in shear, the timing could be off enough that the engine will not run.

On many riding mowers there are two wires that at the bottom of the carb bowl, these wires go to a solenoid which closes a valve so gas will shut-off when the start key is turned off. When this solenoid is bad it will not close which let gas keep going to the carb so the eng will bang through the carb or muffer. Hope that this will Help. Hugh Lyon

Could be bad ignition system. Check for spark when it quits using a new spark plug. Why do you suspect the fuel system? Does the engine quit suddenly or sputter to a stop? Does the engine have to get hot before it will quit? Sudden stop is usually ignition loss whereas sputtering could be either fuel or spark loss. Safety switches--'rider present'--could possibly be a problem and cause ignition loss.

need more info like is the engine spinning over and not cranking, if it spinns over check for spark at the spark plug, if you have spark you now have a fuel problem, if it doesnt spin over at all its probly in the battery or starter. to find out if its a fuel problem just spray carburator cleaner in

too the carburator it dont take much, then try cranking it and see if it runs if it does more then likely the carb needs to be taken off and cleaned, agaian not that hard of a job, just get the carb off and brake it down and spray carb cleaner in every hole in the carb,,,, good luck
