Honda Cbr motorcycle stalls when between 75% to 90% on temp gauge

I have a question that perhaps someone who has had a similar experience can help me answer. When my bike gets between 75% to 90% on the temperature gauge while in heavy traffic, it tends to stall and at the same time the starter stops working. Does anyone know what the cause of this problem might be? The problem goes away when the bike cools down to below 75% on the temperature gauge. Any suggestions or ideas to help get to the bottom of this would be greatly appreciated.

Correction to the above post: The motorcycle is a 1999 Honda CBR 600F4...it's not a 2006 Honda CBR 600 RR.

I don't know if the actual temperature gauge has anything to do with it. I would suggest checking the positive cable or ground cable going to the starter. If there is a small break in the cable it is possible to separate when it gets hot. I don't believe there is a cut out switch for the temperature gauge. I would start checking the power wires anyway. That's where I would look first.

SOURCE: Honda CBR 900rr 95 Will not start

Check fuel pump is working(remove seat and tank)Although your bike has carbs, they are fed by a fuel pump(under seat and tank)
if there is no fuel getting pumped when you are cranking over, replace fuel pump relay(cheapest option)If still no joy your fuel pump is u/s.although hondas have a seperate small vacume type hose running off the back of the pump, any pump off a kawasaki zx7/zx9 will do the job(they are all made by the same firm)

Motorcycle stalls and won't start when it gets between 75 and 90 % on temp gauge

My first guess would be a thermal problem with the electrical system - it could be as simple as a battery connection that comes loose when it expands, especially if it is corroded. The starter problem points in this direction.

Sounds like you have a ground fault. I once had a car with a faulty ground wire on the headlight, when I put high beam on the speedo would jump to 170km/h and the indicators would glow dimly. Sure sounds like a similar ground fault to me, check all the ground straps, from the headlight or anywhere else you can think of.
