Ello m8,, the pistons on the caliper sond bit seized, one caliper at a time,, undo the bolts that hold the caliper on the fork, , take off the brake caliper from the wheel ,, get your self some copper grease ,or for now any grease,, pull in the brake lever as if u were braking, and see if the piston moves in the caliper, pump the lever a few times, untill it moves then smear some grease round that piston or both pistons, then prize the piston back in ,,pump the lever again a couple times then put back on the wheel then bolt it back up,, do the same to the other caliper ,,try that 1st mate,, cheers

Front rotor brakes on 1978 panel truck .they lock up temporarily ,need replacing or cleaning ?

if they are locking up this sounds more like a hydraulic problem like the calipers pistons are sticking/seizing and need replacing. also if the caliper slide surfaces are worn/dirty can cause calipers to stick as well as the hydraulic brake hoses sometimes separate internally which can also cause the brakes to stick. the bottom line is have the front brakes checked out for condition and operation.

What can i use to keep my breaks from sticking? i put on new break pads and they are still sticking.please help me.

your brake caliper or calipers, may be sticking.when you drive it at night, for say 10 miles, then look at the fronf wheels,do you see a fire red glow behind the wheel on the brake caliper.? easy way to tell.jack the car up with the emergency brake on. pump the brakes with engine running, with the transmission in neutral? can you spin the tires by hand? if not, then you have a sticking brake caliper, which will burn the brakes up fast.eventually, the brake caliper will "lock" and then you will not be able to move the car in any gear.if you suspect bad brake caliper, replace both front brake rotors and calipers with new brake pads. easy way to eliminate the brake problems.if you replace the brake calipers and pads only.the rotors may still be warped due to all the heat that occured with the bad brake calipers. you will have a bad steering wheel vibration when braking otherwise. thank you,for choosing fixya.com!

Back brakes coming on before front on snow and skidding

the way the car brakes are on todays cars are. the front brakes a supposed to grab a second before back brakes. so I would look to see if fluid is ok! and check out the front brakes, you could have a sticking caliper, thats stuck in and not applying the front brakes properly. have a good day !! also when you check the brakes make sure the caliper slide pins are ok. if not the caliper will hang up. if they are sticking replace caliper pins and grease them up good so caliper slides on them. my 2000 malibu had a similar problem and I found that the pins on caliper were bad, replaced them and all is fine.

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0L front passenger brake sticks

First you must look closely at the caliper and determine if it is sticking on the slide or is the piston sticking. If it is the piston you would have to rebuild the caliper or replace the caliper. If it is the slides, you need to sand and clean all the slide contacts and lube the slide with lithium grease or never seize grease. Then you can reinstall the caliper and you will be fine. Also when checking if the piston is sticking try loosening the line and see if it retracts, if it does you may have a bad flex hose going to the caliper holding pressure on the caliper.

Replace both front brake hoses.....they collapse on the inside and will not allow fluid to retract...caliper was probobly fine.....this happens a lot....good luck...Lee
