There are diagrams here, but you should really invest in a Service Manual.

So on my 1997 Suzuki 750 katana lost power on the dash bike still runs but not sure if it’s a electrical problem

It has a 5 wire cdi box

Hmm, something has been changed at some stage.
All wires should be of same colour combo's.

Best guess is three wires from cdi go directly to magneto, whilst the fourth is for the coil. However your configuration suggest a different cdi unit is being used, the site below has a diagram of your bikes standard electrics, unfortunately not color coded.

Normally, it cannot be wired incorrectly as male/female and color wires determine correct connections. Find out the origins of the parts and seek the application for the color of each wire, ie: color wire for primary source, pulse coil, earth, etc. Transfer this info to the colors from your magneto, Goodluck and cheers.

You can't, just went through this. You'll need to find the correct CDI for your bike, some years will switch back an forth but rarely and Suzuki has never printed, that I've seen, a wiring diagram for the CDI. The 94 might work if you can find it and it should plug right in, the 98 will have a different curve that most likely wont.
