Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Depending on the condition/age of the engine, riding habits, weather condition and ambient temperature, it should not. excessive water/coolant draining out is an overheat condition while a trickle or a few drops would be slightly beyond normal.

Still, best would be to check:

  • possibility of clogged radiator;
  • ratio of water to coolant;
  • blower/fan not working;
  • thermostat stuck in closed position or restricted;
  • broken vanes from the water pump.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

How often do I need to service my kawasaki GPZ 500 2004 reg?

It really depends on the anual mileage you do and riding conditions.
On average once a year is about right with normal oil,tyres etc checks in between.

When my bike(Kawasaki gpz400 R) gets hot after hard riding to just before overheating then there is water coming out from a pipe at the reservior going to the back of the bike. is this normal, I do not...

if the reservoir is overfilled then water may be forced out when the engine is too hot. The engine can get too hot if not enough antifreeze/coolant is in the system or the radiator doesn't have enough air flow over it. Another thing that could be going on is the engine is pressurising the water circuit because of a crack or blown gasket. Do you have a milky residue on the oil filler cap?, If you remove the expansion tank cap is the water surface clean and if you then start it does the level rise.?

Electrical problems

Ok good luck finding a wiring diagram to do this! Also this i a very bad idea if you manage to bypass the fuse box as your bike will then become a fire risk if you have some sort of short while riding your low amp wires will melt which will then melt the higher amp wires and add a bit of heat and oxygen and you have yourself one burning GPZ 1000
