I have a 2003 olds mobile Alero, it began to over heat riding around the city so I replaced both the thermostat & water pump but the car still over heats. What else could be wrong?

most likely air in the colant system, an air bubble trapped when water pump was replaced. An eazy way to tell if air is in the coolant system squeze the upper radiator hose, if seems empty or can hear coolant swishing around, then there is air in the coolant system and also coolant level not compmetely topped off.

Top off coolant with Antifreeze Concentrate, NOT WATER. water will boil and evaporate, 50/50 antifreeze mix is good but if you dont know how much water has allready been added to the coolant system then straight shots of Antifreeze is recommended when toppong off coolant level.

Remove Air and Top Off Coolant

•While Engine is cool
•Remove radiator cap
•Slowly fill to the rim with Antifreeze, while at the same time squeezing the upper radiator hose to swoosh around coolant, try to get as full as you can.
•Replace Radiator Cap
•Start engine and switch air fan on high
•Remove radiator cap
•Squeez upper radiator hose and add more Antifreeze as Nessesary
•Notice preasure on the coolant hose, while adding antifreeze Concentrate preasure on the hose will stiffin up,
When coolant is full turn off the motor.

2002 Diamante Heater not working

Sure!
Did you fill the radiator with water or coolant?
The radiator requires 50% water and 50% antifreeze, specifically ethylene glycol or the modern equivalent.
Water alone is very bad for your system, it will cause damage later on.
Now, let's fix the heating problem.
Your radiator is actually higher than the water pump of the car. Being higher, it will hold air if the cooling system is empty.
If you added water yesterday, you will need to add straight antifreeze today, not a 50/50 blend that you can buy in the store. Stores sell both 50/50 and straight. Read label.
When the engine is cold, take off your radiator cap and"burp" the system.
Here's how.
Get a container, at least a gallon of it, according to the instructions above.
Having that fluid right handy, start the motor of the car, and turn on the heater full blast.
Run the engine at a medium speed, you might need someone holding the gas pedal whilst you watch the coolant level.
Run the motor this way for at least 5 minutes, or even 10.
Keep the radiator full of coolant, even as you need to add some as the air comes out.
Don't put your face or body over the radiator, as it might blow out when the air comes out.
You should be getting heat in about 5 minutes or less.
Be blessed.

I have a mitsubishi lancer 2002. The coolant reservoir tank is empty. Radiator is full. I just need to add coolant to reservoir. Do i add straight coolant or does it need to be a 50/50 water/coolant mix?

It is best to add a coolant mix. You can get it ready mixed, but try to ascertain if your car now has in it green mix or red mix. It is best not to mix these 2 mixes LOL
If you cannot make out what is in there now, just add demineralised water.

Dipping of rusty water

yep heater core in dash leaking, sound like heater core rusted out if you used straight water.you need to have radiator and engine block flushed because rusty water is in the entire coolant system, you need flush coolant system replace thermostat add 50/50 antifreeze and water mixture never run straight water because straight water in winter weather will cause water freeze up in cylinder block and crack cylinder block you need antifreeze mixture in coolant system to keep coolant from freezing.

I have a pontiac sunfire 2001, Can you poor water to the coolant or just plain coolant? . At the plastic container where you put the coolant it is marked coolant only.... Help!!!! Where you put the water?

Coolant should be mixed with water before adding it to the plastic container. If the coolant is not already mixed with water at a 50/50 ratio, (50 percent water/50 percent coolant) do so before adding. Coolant should always be mixed and not added as straight coolant, the water helps the coolant flow thru the cooling system and aids in helping the coolant remove heat from the engine during the cooling process.

My coolant light is low and im not sure what kind to add?

If your coolants color is pink you must add coolant that is pink. If it is green you must add green. You CANNOT mix green and pink together. You can get 50/50 mix which is half coolant and half water which is ready to use. You can also get coolant that does not have water added to it but you will still need to add water. This is usually better for your buck.

What type of coolant should I put in my Caddi and should I mix it with water or not?

You vehicle takes the green stuff. You can get it premixed or straight. If you get the straight stuff you will need to mix it with water at a 50/50 mix. This means if you use 1 gallon of coolant then you need to mix in 1 gallon of water. The premixed stuff you can just put right in no mixing.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Coolant system

If your coolant level is dropping, I would suggest that you take a good look at the water pump. That is a very common coolant leakage probelm area on your vehicle. I change 2-3 a week.
Hope this helps.
