Valve gap's are to tight. What are the correct specs?
Hi,
Your valve clearances should be:
Intake .08-.12 mm (.003-.005 in)
Exhaust .12-.16 mm (.005-.006 in)
I usually start all gaps in the middle of given specs, then fine tune from there.
Hope this helps
NO! that is incorrect! it is not 8-12 or 12-16
All of the Honda VT500 shadow's and ascot's Valves are 0.10mm all the way around for exhaust and intake
FT mark is for front and Rt mark is for rear cylinders.

Thanks a bunch
I have a Clymer manual that lists .004 " for the intake and .004" for the exhaust. If the exhaust is off by a couple thousandths, will that have any significant effect on performance?
