Clutch slipping while cold. When warm/hot, it operates great. When I first put the bike into gear, the clutch seems to slip, and the bike starts to move but only at a walking pace 10mph.
Engine power and throttle good. Once I have traveled about 1/2 mile and shifted up into fourth gear (engine very warm), The clutch comes to life as advertised. From there on, I have no problem with accellerating.
When I stop for a few hours and the bike cools, I go thru the same problem and solution
I have a 2000 Vulcan Nomad FI & had a very similar problem. In fact, it's a very common problem with these bikes. I fixed it by replacing the Clutch Spring. (As Described here: http://www.gadgetjq.com/clutch_spring_replacement.htm
It cost me $40 and 3 hours of time with an impact wrench.
