Tail and brake light wring for a 1984 honda shadow.

Trying to put an 84 honda shadow 500 together. No idea where to find a diagram or way to hook up the tail light. i have a few wires and tested them for always hot, only hot when ignition is on and a neutral. still have about 4 wires coming from the bike that are just sitting there. just trying to figure out how to attach the tail, front brake and rear brake wires together..

I can't answer your question but I reckon if you find and look at any Honda wiring diagram around that year it could provide some clues - the wiring colours are likely to be the same...

SOURCE: How do you take of the seat on the bike?

There are two bolts in the back of the seat it looks like you must first remove the sissy bar from the back of the bike. I just bought a 84 Shadow VT-500 and there was no sissy bar when I purchased so u could see the two screw's right above the rear light. Once the screws are out the seat comes of very easily.

SOURCE: 1984 Honda Shadow VT 700 Shift Problem

Based on the information you have provided I suspect a bent shift fork in your transmission. To fix it you will have to take the transmission cover off and get at that fork. Replacing the fork is probably easiest, the labor to get to it is the expensive part.

SOURCE: the bike runs fine then it just quits running

There may be some water condensate accumulated in the gas tank. Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ). Install an in-line fuel filter. Drain the carbs

The problem could also be electrical. If the gas thing doesn't fix the problem then check the side stand kill switch (if there is one) on your bike. It kills the engine so that you don’t start out with the side stand down. If broken or out of adjustment, it could kill the spark at random times. Check for a broken or loose wire at the side stand switch and coupler. Try moving the kill switch by hand. If that doesn’t work then wire a jumper around the switch to bypass it. Check the fuses. Check the operation of the ignition switch and all kill switches with a volt ohmmeter.

My 2003 750 shadow spirit tail light/brake light is always on

Ensure the bulb is correctly fitted!!

You must have a foot hand brake switch mal-adjusted / faulty. back them both off (If possible) and it should extinguish.

Does it still work with headlamps off?? If so then one of the switches are faulty / need adjusting.

Front brake too stiff on 1984 Honda Shadow VT500C Shadow

You should have disc brakes??? They are not adjustable.
It is common for a caliper piston to freeze up or become corroded and bind up so it will not move freely.

Rear brake light will not come on when rear brake is applied

If your brake lights are not coming when pressing the foot brake this means that there is something wrong with the switch..Have a closer look near the brake lever and you will see a spring attached to it which in turn is connected to the brake switch..Try to pull it down and if you see your brake lights working then you only need to adjust the spring setting..Else try to make a manual close connection and if it goes on then replace the switch..

Tail light indicator remains on, 1984 honda shadow vt500

if the tail light is working, then look at the sensor, it is placed under the seat( it is a small black box 2x1,5cm) disconnect and clean contacts. Also put some contact spray in other wire joints.
