Hello Charles, if you have spark, and fuel, then start troubleshooting by checking for vacuum leaks...a vacuum leak will allow unmetered air to enter the engine creating a lean fuel mixture, the cylinder will not fire if it's too lean. Replace the spark plugs and buy a spray can of carb cleaner. Let the bike idle and spray the cleaner around the carb mounts & all the vacuum hoses. If the RPM's change, the engine has suxed some in & you have a leak. Try this & let me know what you find. Also read the old plugs, are they wet, gas soaked ,black & fouled - dry and off white...etc. Let me know what you find. I hope this helps.

1987 Yamaha Venture Royale 1300. Only running on back 2 cylinders. Changed front coils still no spark?????

If you're experiencing a lack of spark on the front two cylinders of your 1987 Yamaha Venture Royale 1300, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the spark plug wires: Verify that the spark plug wires are securely connected to both the ignition coils and spark plugs. Ensure they are not damaged or frayed. If you have swapped the wires and still don't have spark on the front cylinders, it's less likely to be an issue with the wires themselves.
  2. Inspect the spark plugs: Remove the spark plugs from the front two cylinders and inspect them for fouling, wear, or damage. If the plugs are worn out, fouled, or damaged, replace them with new ones of the correct specification.
  3. Test the ignition coils: Although you mentioned replacing the front coils, it's still possible that the used replacement coils are faulty. You can test the coils using a multimeter to check for proper resistance values. Consult the service manual or contact a Yamaha dealer for specific resistance values and testing procedures for your particular model.
  4. Check the ignition system components: Inspect other components of the ignition system, such as the ignition control module (CDI), ignition switches, and wiring harness connections. Ensure all connections are secure, and there are no damaged or corroded wires.
  5. Verify power supply: Confirm that the ignition system is receiving power. Check the fuses related to the ignition system and ensure they are not blown. Test for voltage at the ignition coil connectors to ensure there is proper power supply to the coils.
  6. Consult a professional: If you have gone through these troubleshooting steps and are still unable to identify the issue, it is recommended to seek assistance from a professional motorcycle technician or a Yamaha dealer. They will have access to specialized diagnostic equipment and expertise to diagnose and resolve the problem.
Electrical issues can be complex, and it may require expertise beyond basic troubleshooting. A professional technician will be able to perform more in-depth diagnostics to pinpoint the exact cause of the lack of spark on the front cylinders of your motorcycle.

Yamaha virago y rone with choke honney the cilanderfronthis cold hand back his hot afer 4 minute ron

Your front cylinder is not running. This could be due to spark or fuel, or lack of compression.
Check for spark first by inserting a good plug in the plug wire and holding it against the cylinder. If it shows bright spark, you may have a fueling or compression issue.
Check for compression, should be around 150psi. If you have spark and compression, you probably have a fueling issue.
Check the carb for the front cylinder for fuel level in the bowl. If the fuel level is correct you have another carb issue which will require removal and cleaning/servicing.

Remove seat, fuel tank and its best to remove the strut between the top of the cylinder and the frame....looks like a dog bone.
