Anything is possible with enough money, and I would like to see the end product.
However consider the frame on the ZL will not be up the stress the ZX can generate, and is with its age is probably a little fatigued.
But you'll need to measure dimensions of the donor engine - where bolts are and engine mounts go. The stock drive shaft will probably not be able to be retained.
there was a 11mm head bolt option on some models with a protruding head 35ft\lb used 38ft\lb new
on TDC line the exhaust cam mark EX with the gasket surface.
then count chain pins from the first one above the EX
the 35th pinshould line up with the IN mark and the gasket surface to the rear
Generally there are only two things that will make a knocking noise in the gearbox. First is a broken tooth on a gear and second is a bad rod bearing. If the noise is there in neutral and all the other gears then a bad rod bearing is likely. If the knocking is only there when the clutch is out and the bike is in gear then a broken tooth is likely.
Repair parts will be a problem but you can try Babbitt's. Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part and/or the notation "Not Available" is in the description, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx
its a sticking cam chain tensioner, it should be fine as long as you warm the bike before riding it, on warming try to keep the tickover down to 2000rpm
had the same problem. Changed The Oil And Used Some Good Semi-synthetic Which Has Eased It A Little, It Doen't Sound So Rough Now, But I Have Been Told To Definately Get The Cam Chain Checked!
