Question about 2010 Honda CB1000R

1 Answer

2010 Honda CB1000R has a ticking noise

I have a CB1000r with about 7k miles on the clock, I noticed recently that a 'tick' has developed that appears to come from near the oil cooler on the front of the engine. I suspected the exhaust/manifold gaskets/downpipe damage. My Honda dealer has tried new pipes and the issue remains, sometimes it'll be there when the engine's cold, sometimes it appears only at operating temperature and once it seemed to have disappeared completely! My local dealer seems stumped any ideas ??? Thanks! @

SOURCE: Exhaust manifold gaskets

the ticking noise when cold is an exhaust leak.If it is the exhaust manifold gaskets, depending on the vehicle they can be very difficult to replace.in some cases you must remove many other parts even to see the manifolds.make sure when manifolds are off that they are checked for warpage, this is a simple test needing only a straight edge and feeler gague.ask your tech if he can see any broken manifold studs/bolts and if quote covers time for removing broken manifold studs/bolts,because if any are broken, this can take quite some time to extract the broken studs/bolts.

It could be. The car seems to be flooding its self as though you are driving on the choke all the time. Replace the air filter if dirty and clean all the breather pipes. Also check the accelerator cable is not snagged and is adjusted correctly.

il try n help m8,, can i start by eliminating a few things,, have u made sure all 4 carb floats are the same height ,they need to be, ,and there is no holes in the diaphrams at the top of the carbs,,even a pin hole will give u grief,, ,,wot happens wen u pull the choke out wen motor is warm and idling,, if it evens out and pipes warm up then theres a blockage in 3 and 4 carb, and idel jets,or could have a split vacume pipe, or a air leak between the carb and cylinder,,if all fuel symtoms are ok ,, then make sure the coil wires are on properly, and good spark on the coolest cylinders, , try swapping over the coils to to see if the left cylinder becomes cooler than the right,,hope that gives an idea,,
