Replace the part that popped, you can't repair selenium diodes.

Either your tumblers in the lock are dirty or broken or your key does not fit the lock. If you have an original key it has a key number on it. The bottom of the ignition switch should have the same number on it (A12345,Bxxxxx,Cxxxxx,Dxxxxx,or Exxxxx). If the numbers are different you need to get the other key made at the dealer or locksmith. If the switch is broken you will probably need to buy a new switch.

check your coil pick up find any old motorcycle parts provider online look at the pick. pull teh side cover on the other side of your stator and there it should be. might even be on outside of stator. probably it. email for a walk through

Have the rotor checked on a "growler" for internal shorts or open windings.

The drive gechanism in the wheel hub is damaged

Unstuff all those wires and ck the battery grnd for securement. If any welding was done, The grnd should have been removed, so there is that possibility. Good Luck- That's a nice bike.

How long did the bike set un-used? After years, gasoline turns into varnish after evaporation of the aromatic hydrocarbons. I've actually seen a substance like molasses in all the carbs and the gas tank. Take a bowl off of a carb and see what you find. If it has gone to varnish, you will need to disassemble every component that gasoline touches as a liquid and re-build and clean out the gunk. (yes, gas tank too and the diverter valve) This is a common problem.

sounds like you are not getting enough gas, is it just outta winter storage? try some Berrymans B12 fuel additive in the gas it will clean the gum out of your carbs.

seems like a bad earth, check battery connectors, and any earth straps between engine and frame and also the connectors from each of the indicator wiring into the harness.
