2002 Victory V 92 C Questions & Answers
There is no response from the starter button but the bike turns over and fires when I short out the starter relay. How do I know if the starter relay or the ecm relay needs replacement?
ok on the starter relay you have two thick wires one from the battery and the other to the starter motor, then you will have one or two smaller wires one is from the start button this can be either live or neutral all depending how its wired up but its usually live to the button the other small wire will be earth.usually the live one is yellow/red and the earth is green .so get. a small piece of wire and connect it to the live battery terminal and poke it in the yellow connector and see if the engine turns over if it does then you have to check the yellow wire to see if it has a live feed from the start button when you press it ,it could also be the earth wire has no earth so poke.an earth into that one if it does have. live feed to the yellow wire from the start button when its pressed.also make sure your pulling the rear brake in or clutch in before you start it or do any checks.
Odometer speedo and tach do not work speedo is at 0 tach is at 1000 rpms neither moves I have a back light fuel gauge works
Been a while since I have wrenched on my 99' V92...my memory has me thinking this is a cable driven tach and speedo? If either are loose at the send port it will likely send no signal.
Behind the right side cover (clutch side) there is also a gang of relays and fuses under a black cover.
It is always helpful to check these type of things when a problem like this comes up.
I jave found sometimes pulling a relay out and reinstalling it can make a troubled contact work.
As with any motorcycle I own I like to purchase a shop manual and I am goibg to advise that for you also.
Some things are better left to a trained mechanic but sometimes small things can be figured out by the average person using a manual.
Please post any updates or discovery you make
Do you have an engine diagram?
Go to M&M Leather website and navigate when there looking for their Polaris/Victory parts fische database.
You can look up parts and get detailed veiw add of just about anything on your motorcycle.
Missing problems
could be a emissions/exhaust issue
check air in and out, if you can not get air in or exhaust out any engine will start to sputter like it is missing
How do you install a barrett clutch cable on a
To change your clutch cable fittest remove the seat and fuel tank. Remove nut and wiring clip from the bottom of the clutch lever then push the stud up and out through the top. This will allow you to disconnect the cable from the lever. If need be slide the boot back on the right side along the frame to access the cable adjustment to gain slack to work with. Once the cable is free from the lever you can carefully pull the lever end of the cable through the grommet in the frame. Cut the zip ties along the frame that secure the cable. Once it's through, remove the side covers that cover your battery and electronics. The cable is attached to a clip under and behind the battery box by a nut. Use a 10 mm wrench to back the nut off. If you need more room to work you could remove the battery and battery box. Pull your cable slack towards the clutch arm on the top left of the transmission and disconnect it. Now you can pop the solid tube of the cable out of a metal clip on the right side and carefully fish it up and out through the right left side of the bike. To install simply reverse the procedure. Be sure to lube as instructed with the grease Barnett provides with their cables. I just put all ss Barnett cables on my 2000 v92c and love em.

Yes you are correct, twice. Be easy and maybe an extra set of hands when taking the tank off. I always buy a service manual when I purchase a new project. I would suggest doing the same. It just gives you good idea's about the what and where. The one for the Victory V92 isn't so great for the how just basic pictures and some details. Try going to M&M leather and custom cycle's web site and look at the parts fische for a free view under your tank. When you begin to lift the tank off take care with the fuel connection. That plastic fitting is 10yrs old and likely prone to snapping if pulled on the wrong way. It has a push tab on it that is silver. Push and lightly grasp the fitting pulling them apart as straight as possible. The one just under the seat is even more brittle so be carefull. It is a $40.00 tee that will break easily. Done it.
Hi i have 2003 Victory
My 2001 has the same issue, there is a hall effect speed sensor located on the back end of your secondary belt drive (engine end of belt). According to manual it either is bad or most likely not grounded properly. Fairly easy to access, I did not need to remove anything but the sensor, again look behind the engine belt cover right side of bike, it unplugs easily. To properly test it you will need a meter and have your bike off of the ground with the ignition switch on w/o the engine running. As to the battery issue, my battery does this to in cold weather, and the battery is to small for the engine. The cure is a cheap battery trickle charger from harbor freight about ten bucks-now I have no issues. Do not know how old your battery is btu they last alot longer with a trickle charger and Victory also sells a Gel battery that is better or go to the battery store Inc, and they carry a military grade battery $$$$ but good. Hope this helps you.
