2003 Suzuki RM 250 Questions & Answers
My RM 250 won't spark. The engines been taken
Things to check are
1/ Short out plug wire to good earth to check for spark, if none check rest of sequence. If spark, replace spark plug.
2/ Next check wiring connectors from the ingition module to coil and ensure they are all tight.
3/ This is quite technical but the use of a digital / analogue meter is required.
4/ Place a meter on each wire to the coil and crank (Without spark plug in) there should be some voltage / current flow through the feed wires (Not the earth - Black) If nothing trace back to Generator.
5/ Forgot to mention the kill switch operation, if unsure bridge these wires together.
Other than that the other tests involve sound electrical knowledge and is beyond the scope of the average person.
A thought, if this model has a battery ensure its fully charged.
Gas leak from carb drain hose
I had this same problem on my DRZ-110.
I took apart the carburator to clean everything out, but when i re-assembled it it started to leak gas out of the drain hose. Then i found out that the problem was that one of my gaskets were torn and were letting air in the drain which prevents it from being a vacuum, therefore causing gas to leak out.
I would first check the float & make sure it isnt stuck, then i would check all of the gaskets and make sure they arent torn, & replace the ones that are, even if theyre slightly damaged they can still let in air.
Your carb has to be 100% sealed & vacuumed to prevent any leaks & for it to work fine, so get those gaskets checked out
I have a 2003 rm
I'm pretty sure you want to use gear oil in the crankcase of a two-stroke,(like 80wt Bel Ray).
Standard "car weight" motor oils are 4 stroke, designed to lube the crank & cylinders. your '03 RM has the cylinders lubed by the pre-mix...
A motorcycle specific crankcase lube is the best bet; lots of differing opinions on the wet-clutch aspect.
My rm2004125 used to kick power bands in wont now which way do i turn the power valve
Hi mate I'm pretty sure you can only adjust between 2 settings turn it full clockwise you get more top end power but lose some of your bottom end power or anti clockwise for the opposite . Try that if you still having problems I would remove flywheel casing and behind the flywheel there will be either 2 or 3 blots for the stator plate slacken them a touch and move the stator plate a tiny bit in either way the retighten the bolts replace cover and try it if it's better then keep making very small adjustment until you are happy if it's worse move the stator plate the other way and try it you only need to move it a very small amount to make a differents so will have to do it several times to get it spot on . Doing this can give a decent improvement on the overall performance of your bike I don't think it's the power valve adjustment you need to do try what I said you will be surprised how much of a differents it makes and is the first thing I do 2 all the 2 stroke bike I have. I can post a video for you if need be of me doing this to my mates bike as I'm waiting for him to fetch it over now for me to do this for him
Geaerbox missing gear
Hi, this could be a number of things from worn selector forks, to worn dogs on the affected gear, broken circlips or even a broken gear itsel, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT USE THIS MACHINE UNTIL a suitable repaire has been
Carried out, this will reduce the risk of further damage or injury should the gear fail
How much oil goes in engine 250cc dr 1986
you will need to put just under 2 liters in i would go with 1.8 liters of good quality oil,
i would recommend either one of these ,
SILKOLENE PRO 4 PLUS 10W-50
or
SILKOLENE SUPER 4 10W-40
its recommended to change oil every 6 to 8 months but i like to do an oil change roughly every 3 months , but if you use your bike everyday i would change it a bit more often to insure max protection for your engine
