2001 Honda VT 750 DC Shadow Spirit Questions & Answers
The battery has power but
Take your battery to a dealer or auto store and have it load tested. You may have a cracked cell in the battery so it has a full charge but it will not transfer the power. You could also take a car battery(12 volt) and hook it to the bike. If the bike acts normal on the when attached to the other battery, your bike battery is the culprit. If you jump the starter solenoid (short from the battery terminal to the starter terminal) and the starter works you have a bad solenoid. If you hold the starter button and tap the starter with a plastic hammer and the starter works, you have bad starter brushes. If there is anything else wrong the starter replace it with a complete new assembly , Honda does not sell the parts needed to fix the starter
The bike has developed a vibration going straight

I have a 2001 Honda Shadow Spirit VT 750DC. When trying to start it, after winter storage. I noticed gas was pouring out of the end of my Carburetor, Air Vent Tube "No. 6" At the other end is connected to a "T" , that goes into the top of the Carbs. I looked in the service manual that says because I do not have a California Emission , to connect it to the carb. Humm, I said to self. But Where? To What Carb? I checked the photos and Diagram shows no connection, HELP!!!
Trying to get radiator cover off & it wont move?
do you mean the radiator cap ? -- most radiator caps need to be depressed before turning loose for the first part of the term - then release the compression on the cap and turn normally - if you are trying to drain - there is usually a drain plug near the bottom ( a bolt )
Long story short, the bike has extra-ordinarily
Selling the parts is a bad idea. Just trade the bike in on a different bike at the dealer. Tell them the oil pressure runs high. They can fix it then resell it. All the shop will have to invest is about 12 hours of labor and 50 bucks in parts. The 12 hours times $20 pay per hour is $220. They won't get hurt cause they will make about $2000 when the bike is sold. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

Friend,
It seems that your bike if having fuel problem. The fuel pump may be getting hot and not supplying enough fuel. Or the HT coil may be getting hot and not giving enough current to the spark plugs. You have to rule out both these points. The "choke keeps it running" phenomenon means that it is not getting enough fuel. So concentrate on the fuel pump. Also clean up the air and petrol jets in the carb.the petrol jet may be blocked.
Bike missing and backfiring... put new plugs in 2001 ace 750
I'm trying to think away the possibility of a burt vave. Have you run the valve adjustment? Carb adjustment is very critical, Too lean will cause backfiring or stumbling and too rich will cause deccel popping at the exhaust. One other thing, Vacuum leaks screw everything up so it wouldn't hurt to ck all the vacuum lines make sure of no cracks or loose fits. Safly, you may need to just run it out and hope for it to clear up.Make sure the plug wires are not laying on anything. Take some electrical spray cleaner and rinse og the top of the coilnd the plug wire. I'll keep thinking on this and if I stumble on anything I'll you know. Ned
Honda Shadow 750
I'm not personally intimate with the Shadow, but on most motorcycles this is generally indicative of charging system issues. You may have lost a phase in either the stator and/or regulator.
Measure the voltage across the battery with engine running and ensure you have better than 13.5V.
If not that will confirm that your charging system needs to be further investigated.

- Remove the battery
- Re-connect the POSITIVE cable first, then the negative.

Want more speed out of honda spirit
The only way to get more power is to up the jets in the carb, install pipes and a more open aircleaner, that is not a fuel injected bike so there isnt any computer work you can do to it.
The other thing you can do to get a little more power is to drill out the air fuel mixture screws and open them up a turn or so.
