I would check the battery terminals and then starter and starter connections as well..

Have you tried checking the start button? I had mine overheat, and the button lost contact and mine wouldn't start. (Which can kill the light and ability to start)

If you have carburetors you need to install a jet kit. If you have a fuel injected bike you need to add a Power Commander and program it for the changes you have made to the intake side of the engine. Make sure you installed all new exhaust gaskets or you will have lots of popping and back firing.

The problem is either: The head lamp fuse. Check this first. If the fuse is okay, make sure you've got battery voltage to the fuse. If not, clean the starter button contacts. Besides crancking the starter, the starter button also cuts power to the headlight when you press it. Sometimes if you press the starter button and let it release firmly (by sliding your thumb off of it, letting it snap outward), will fix this type of problem.

more than likly the fill is behind the plastic on the trip tree on the right hand side. loosen the screw and pull and the fill will be staring right at you.

If everything has been checked as good, correct then a possibility is that the starter cable terminal and the battery cable terminals were installed the other way around to the starter relay. Switch terminals.

Generis guess: Look on the bottom under the engine

There could be leak in the gasket that could be it

let the oil the engine, make many pictures as it is mounted.
then take the carter and make again pictures how the clutch is fitted and from the cable / lever adjustment.
make sure that your pictures that are , that you can reasemble easy your self.
And easy whit that thing , its aluminium.
