measure the fork tubes on yours that go through the trees and compare !

Did you check the jets they probably clogged and they are flooding the chamber .

This is possible, but if the bike isn't bucking then a misfire is unlikely and you just have a leaky carburetor issue.

If the fan does not kick in at the factory default temp setting, then the bike will overheat. Test the fan circuit for voltage, if no voltage it could be a wiring fault, a blown fuse or the temp sensor. You can also test the fan with direct voltage (12V) to see if the fan is defective. At least this is a easy bike to change the coolant on. on the LH side of the motor on the bottom you will see the lower rad hose it goes into the water pump. There are two ways to drain the coolant, ! you can remove the hose, this is the fastest wat to drain all coolant or you can remove the bolt with the copper washer from the water pump cover. I would sugguest the drain bolt. Now that you know where to drain it from lets get it ready to drain. You will have to remove the gas tank to make things easier. or at least pull it back toward the seat without the bolts in it. The filler neck for you ride will be on the rh side in the front of the bike by the neck. there is platic cover you will have to remove to get to it. Once you have reached the filler neck remove the cap, remove the drain bolt from the water pump cover NOTE the coolant will be coming out of a small hole and will shot out far BE READY.
To fill the bike simply put the drain bolt back in and fill with your choice of coolant. I personally use only Liquid performance in any and all of my bike. I raced dirt bikes in the desert with the stuff and love it never one lick to trouble out of the stuff. They make coolant for street and dirt bike along with other products. after you think the bike is full give it a few mins to work out any air bubbles and top off.

What is wrong with the tank?? Rust? If not, the same gunk in the tank is in the carbs, They need to be cleaned too. If it is rust, you can clean and seal the tank like new again, with a little elbow grease and a product called POR, (paint over rust), It works great. leaves the tank looking like brand new inside, if it is gummed up from sitting, you will need to soak everything in carb cleaner, and scrub and clean and scrub and rub and wipe and pick out gunk till it is squeaky clean. Then maybe it will run. The jets in the carbs are super sensitive, the slightest spec of dirt or the tiniest clog, it will not run right. Check it out, hope this helps.

With the motorcycle engine cold , located the radiator cap on or just behind the radiator and fill the radiator to the top. Then, locate the over flow bottle often placed down by your feet and fill the bottle to the high mark. Ride the motorcycle and recheck the level of the over flow bottle after the cool down period. Top up as needed.

check /replace spark plugs,clean carbs.

It depends which motor is in your machine ( if it has been changed ). Early models of the vt600 shadow were four speed transmissions. Later they added fifth gear. Your cycle in 1993 was a 4 speed model.

I(f it is the cylinder head gasket, definitely not. If it is just a cover plate or the tappet cover, and the original is not a preformed rubber gasket, you can make a gasket out of gasketing material.

Yes, the battery is under the seat. If you need to access the fuses, you will also need to remove the side cover (I think it's the left one on your bike).

take the screw out of the chrome ignition switch cover. Remove the cover. There are two bolts that hold the ignition switch on. you may have to drill or grind off the tops of the bolts if they are anti-theft bolts. You can replace them with standard screws or bolts.

No, but your key code is stamped on every lock on the bike. It is a six digit code that you will find, EXAMPLE : 345A56 A56 is the key code or 515345 345 is the key code. Take your ignition switch off and take it to a dealer or locksmith they will look at the number and make you a key. You key code may be written in your owners manual or you may remember the number stamped on you key.
