Can you tell me where
Try first one way if it will not start try the other. Then you will know.
Someone may have installed the switch backwards.
1. the front disc brakes
This could be a few concerns.Your front brake line could be restricted, your caliper could be seizing, or your master cylinder could be failing. You have said that there is a lot of surface rust forming.I would definitely start off by flushing the brake system, tell me if that improves the braking or not.It also wouldn't hurt ti spray some rust inhibitor on all the pivot points on the handlebar either.Get back to me , thanks...

Throttle Cables
I finally managed to get a throttle cable and an idle cable.
How do you get the cables out of the throttle housing? I have removed the ends from the grip. Now I am faced with getting the throttle cable and idle cables through the cast metal hole in the bottom of the the throttle housing and then the new ones back up through. There is a shiny barrel clip-looking ferrul attached to the metal ball on the end of the cable that prevents it from fitting through that hole.
As my shiny new $100 worth of throttle/idle cables did not come with ferruls to replace the existing ones I am assuming that there is some way to take those ferrules off the old cables and put the on the new ones. So I need to know how to take off/re-use those clips and/or am I SOL on being able to get this thing going without yet another delivery from Ridley? The cable end is removable. You don't need to buy new ones. Try a small pick to remove the cable from the housing.,,
Sparks from touching metal while disconnecting battery; now the bike won't start.
Have you tried disconnecting the battery again? (more carefully, please)Here's a solution to the "sparking"... ALWAYS disconnect the Negative/Ground cable first. Once that's clear, then you can remove the Positive cable, if needed.Removing the Negative cable is "safe", as even if you touch the wrench to the frame, that's its normal condition (voltage) anyway, so there's no danger. Once it's removed, there's no way to cause sparks, no matter if you touch the Positive cable to the frame or not... since the Negative is already disconnected. (does that make sense?)Anyway, disconnect the Negative/Ground for 5 minutes, then reconnect it. If this is a fairly recent bike, it may have confused the ignition computer when you accidentally shorted the cable earlier. This should clear any errors... if that's the problem.Sometimes it may take more than 5 minutes to clear, that's just the "general rule of thumb". If 5 minutes isn't enough, try 15 minutes or more. There is a slight possibility of damage to the computer (if there is one) by what you did earlier... let's hope that's not the case!
