Just replaced 2004 passenger side motor. Bought motor/gearbox for 31 dollars, free shiping on line, removed motor and regulator , looks like a guide with cables, leaving it all together. We taped window at top and used a pair of small vice grips to clamp the small cable to the frame so it wouldn't move . As we removed the 3 small screws holding the motor/gearbox in place , it slips out showing it has a large plastic spline gear slightly visible . We used a small screw driver to seperate the gear/motor from what looks like a barrell with that cable wrapped around it. We were careful
not to let this cable drum get loose, so we made sure one person held it inside the housing. Slipped the new drive in and done with that. No one mentioned there was a bracket holding the door panel and I had to pop out the manual lock button to access a small screw, don't drop that screw down insde the door, would be hard to get out. I didn't have to make any adjustment and it works great.

Hello, I have a 2004 Avl. I replaced the driver door window mechanism myself. You need to pry out the electric window controls with a dull blade as to not tear the vinyl. Disconnect the controls carefully. There are small release clips that hold the switch buttons onto the electric base. Then the arm rest, there is a long screw under the armrest. At the front towards the mirror there is a long screw under a round plastic snap cover. I believe it is a small metric bolt. Next grasp the bottom end of the door cover and pull with a sharp snap. Continue around the door panel gently pulling the snaps loose from their base. The door panel cover does not cantain screws only snaps. There is a clear plastic water barrior you need to be careful to peel without tearing and place on a clean flat surface with sticky side up. I had to replace the window track and motor all in one piece, can't just replace track. I purchaces the mechanism on-line parts store.

You don't take the door off, you take the door panel off.

There should be a screw or 2 around the pull handle on the inside, along with a screw or 2 around the door release handle, then grab a good sturdy putty knife and your fingers and start pulling the plastic panel away from the metal door.

Use common sense and be gentle yet firm.

Good Luck!!

P.S. You can be carefull once you take the panel off and peel back the plastic lining, but if you rip it don't worry about it... do the best you can

Why does my 2004 Chevy Avalanche window get stuck?

The vehicle is now a decade old, and I'll wager that the window regulators have never been greased. GREASE THEM. You'll need to remove the door panels, clean all tracks and pivots, add lithium grease to all tracks, and use penetrating oil to lubricate all pivots. You really should grease the motor gear as well. DO THIS BEFORE YOU BURN THE MOTORS OUT, as that is what will happen next if you don't lubricate the mechanisms.

FOB won't work on Chevy Avalanche

Doesn't use a fuse , ues a circuit breaker . These very rarely go bad .The right rear door works ? Uses same circuit breaker as front passenger door. The power windows an locks on your vehicle are controlled by electronic control modules . FPDM - front passenger door module , I would look for a broken orange wire inside the flex boot from the body to the front right passenger door . This is power supply to the passenger door module . Do you know what wiring diagrams are ? Free here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb

Front passenger window won't go back up.

The window regulator may have broken. If you can here movement inside the door when pushing the switch, chances are it's a broken cable. If not, it may be a stuck motor. You can sometimes free it up by sitting in the passenger seat, push switch to up, and while holding switch, slam the door closed.

Window motor needs replacing

It may be your track, not the motor. You would have to take the interior door panel off to check. I would look at this first because the track is a less expensive part to purchase.
